The show went well considering all of the problems that started out the evening. At one point during that evening, Leonardo left for the hotel to change. Upon his return, told us that the lock to the door of our room was broken and the doorman had to break into our room. The result was that Martin and I lost our spacious room and were put in a room that was super damp and smelled musty. Being as tired as we were it didn't really matter much. We woke up on Sunday and went to the restaurant in the hotel. MMmmmmm...coffee. [View Full Entry]

On Saturdays in Mexico City there is a street market of the Gothic persuasion. It ran about 5 blocks long and was full of vendors selling clothing, jewelry, posters, Cd's and records... pretty much anything black, depressing, angering, scary, or just plain silly. Under a warm Mexican sun I would guess there were about 500-600 Goth kids/people wandering the market wearing leather, vinyl, velvet, or some combination thereof. At the end of the street there was a kind of "grind-core goth" band playing on a low stage under some sort of awning. With all the food normally found on the streets [View Full Entry]

On day five we went to, what I believe was, Tepotzlan. (I may be corrected on that name and will change it if it comes up). A beautiful town located in the valley between two mountains. We visited some of Leonardo's family. The yards of the two houses almost fixed together were full of flowers of every sort. A bit later we decided to have a look around town. I was doing a bit of shopp [View Full Entry]

Day four in Mexico City. Today had a bit of a political tone to it. We took the subway to central Mexico City where the presidential election protest camps were located. We exited the subway near the Art Museum and Martin and I found ourselves in the middle of an interactive sculpture that resembeled spaghetti being hung to dry. We started down the steet tword the presidential palace, through the presidential election protest camps, to the remains of Tenochtitlán. At one point I felt a little strange after buying a Coke at a 7-e [View Full Entry]

This day we set out to Teotihuacan to check out the pre-Aztek pyramids. We started in a bit of a rush as there was much to do. The itenerary for today had only two things on it but much travel was required. We tryed to set off at 8am but were running late. We ended up geting coffee at a place close to the subway enterance. I stopped in a bank vestibule to get some cash for the journey while the others enjoyed their coffee. It was a little un-nerving in that at the time I needed to go into the [View Full Entry]

Woke up this morning looking for a coffee shop. We walked by a few old churches (the names of which escape me) until we landed at La Selva in Coyohuacan. For the majority of the party, this was their first time ordering food in Mexico. Brian and I each ordered Chilaquiles with ham orange juice and coffee. Here we had a good chat with our host, Leonardo, and got to know each other better. After breakfast [View Full Entry]

My band 'High Blue Star' set off for Mexico City this morning very early. Brian and I left the house around 6am grabbed a bus to the train, and then to the airport. Our plane left at 10:08 a.m. with a one hour-fifteen minute layover in Houston. Landed in Mexico City at 4:48 p.m. with no problems. We collected our luggage and cleared customs. First thing was to connect with Leonardo our promoter. We found a phone and gave him a call not realizing that to call a cell phone from a regular phone in Mexico costs about 4x's as much [View Full Entry]

In March of 2005 some of my best friends got married after having been together for nearly 8 years. They decided to have the wedding in Puerto Vallarta to make it an event to remember for everyone. Initially they figured the cost and distance would make it difficult for people so they thought that it would be just the closest of family. To their surprise nearly 125 people made the trek for the event. I left Minneapolis with Mike and Haley ( the lucky couple) on March 5th - two days before my birthday. I spent the first 2-3 days in [View Full Entry]

I convinced my then girlfriend to head south for a trip. We ended up at Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas. On the way back we stopped at Mammoth Caves in Kentucky where we toured the caves and somehow escaped a tornado that fizzled out before it got to the park. [View Full Entry]
