11/27/2006 12:47 AM The Sanctuary in San Antonio, Texas is the shittiest place I have ever played!!!!!!!! Just got done playing San Antonio and I don’t think I have it in me to put it all down here. Surely it would take longer than the batteries on the laptop would last. First of all when it comes to the travel blog being about tour. I try to keep names and places out of it because this is about travel foremost. However, tonight’s show nearly didn’t happen. I’m sitting at the merch booth while Attrition is on stage and the sound in [View Full Entry]

Dallas

Im way behind on these blogs...sorry. 11/26/2006 4:24 PM Finally made it to the club in Dallas after working our way through a couple of road closed detours. The show went well after ironing out some sound issues. There were only two bands on the bill. Everyone knew the promoter from past tours so things went smoothly. We had a moderate crowd and decent merch sales. The owner of the club was from Australia and I spent some time talking to her about platypus after she heckled Martin about Australia beating England in cricket last year. I think the most exciting [View Full Entry]

11/25/2006 12:38 AM The road to Austin - endless urban sprawl from Dallas to Austin seemed like one big suburb with a frontage road hundreds of miles long. We told Edward’s sister, Sarah, that we would be arriving at her house at 5:00 pm but we made good time and arrived at 3:30. We were welcomed by 78 degrees, Sarah, and an apartment filled with the traditional smells of Thanksgiving. A few introductions and Brian and Martin we’re off to the store around the corner to buy beer. For a couple of hours we sat around on the front porch as [View Full Entry]

waiting for Brian to get Nebby parts
11/24/2006 1:57 PM Driving to Tulsa was difficult to say the least. We spent most of the day on state hi-ways leading us through small Kansas towns and villages. As I was driving we pulled into Fort Scott, Kansas to use the bathrooms and get something to drink. I found a convenience store in the old part of town and pulled into the driveway. Upon doing so the back end of the bus scrapped its back end on the pavement and broke the bowl of the filter between the tank and the engine, which was mounted under the cargo bay doors. 11/22/2006 1:10 PM Pulled into Kansas City a little early so we all hoped on the internet for awhile waiting for the sound man to arrive. Sound check went smoothly and the club was really nice. They made us a couple of big pizzas, one vegan for Martin and Laurie, and another with every kind of meat they had for the rest of us. One of the guys from the first band brought some hummus and pita that he made at home as well. Martin was a bit upset that the promoter didn’t show up at the venue until about 10:30, [View Full Entry]

11/20/2006 12:08 PM We made it to Cedar Rapids by 6pm but it was close. The first thing we noticed as we pulled into town was that the place smelled of oatmeal. Edward joked about there being an oatmeal plant here. As we neared the center of town there it was…oatmeal central. A huge Quaker Oats plant lit up the interstate. We found the venue and located Jason the promoter and started to get set up. He introduced us to the opener, Cold Mercy, and a few of the staff. Our green room was actually green, which always amuses me for [View Full Entry]

11/18/2006 8:58 AM I-65 north of Louisville. When we pulled in to the club last night we noticed the night was billed as a “Metal” night which neither of these bands are. Although, people that listen to metal seem to like us despite our lack of heavy guitar chugging and cookie monster sounding vocals. Apparently the promoter originally had a different venue that had been used by the local goth/industrial scene for quite some time but they lost their space. The show was moved to a different venue. We kept hearing from the locals that they had never actually been in [View Full Entry]

11/17/2006 2:05 PM On the road again traveling north on I-65 to Louisville, Kentucky. The show in Nashville was interesting to say the least. We arrived a bit late but it was actually a better time to arrive. As we pulled into the parking lot of the club the sign said that “The Attrition” (instead of “Attrition”) which we all had a laugh at. After setting up the stage Brian readied Attrition for sound check which proved to be challenging to say the least. Major cabling problems. The snake had very few channels that actually worked. The walls were brick with [View Full Entry]

Lauries Birthday

11/15/2006 11:03 AM We left yesterday at around 6:30 pm for Nashville with a bus full of gear and merchandise (or swag - a term that was just pointed out to me recently). There are five of us in the bus; Myself, Brian, Laurie, Martin, and Edward. We kind of had a late start yesterday as Brian was finishing some needed work on the Nebuchadnezzar. Shortly into Wisconsin Brian announced that it was time to shift from ‘fascism’ to ‘freedom’ meaning changing from diesel to our reclaimed vegetable oil. We all cheered as he flipped the switch. He has spent the [View Full Entry]
