We did a drive through tour of Lexington City, passed Transylvania University on the way to the Bluegrass Airport War Museum, where Geoff took a personal guided tour, with a retired pilot. It was a very cold morning about 5c. Off to Pleasant Hill Shaker Museum, which is a complete Shaker township, we met the broom maker, the cooper, the shaker box maker and they all showed us their skills. Too bad I couldn't fit a broom in the suitcase..... I would of had one ! I did get a shaker box ! The workmanship of the shakers is down to [View Full Entry]

Ready for another chronicle of adventures traipsing across the globe? We are! Tomorrow we head for Europe. Yeah, yeah we were in Paris just a few months ago but this time work is sending us to Poland for a week. Then since we will the there already and can't pass up the opportunity, we will take a week of vacation and whip through Budapest, Vienna and Prague. So tomorrow we shall cross the great pond as we sleep (or try to) and wake up bleary-eyed in Paris. From there we head to Warsaw. We'll spend one day there and then head [View Full Entry]

I apologize for the delay in my writing. After the loss of my camera and bike in September I was momentarily plunged into the shadow of a defeated mentality, and lost inspiration to write. I had lost the ability to share pictures with my words and thought that my words alone were probably not enough to keep your attention. This lull in my mood did not beat me, but by the time I had regained my inspiration I was out of the habit of writing and long since caught up in yet another whirlwind of adventure which I could not pull [View Full Entry]

I guess the travelblog website crashed sometime while I was in new york and some of my entries were lost. I managed to get some of them back but I think at least of them is just gone. So I hope you got to read them before they disappeared..... Also, the pictures that are up are in most recent order going back. We flew back into louisville yesterday and I am fairly glad to be here. There are a lot of things that need to be done at the apartment because everyone has to be out by september 1st but I [View Full Entry]

We leave for new york. There are a few buses leaving at various times but i think we are going to take the one at 6:15. It's a 17 hour ride so we will arrive in new york city on sunday around noon. We are staying with mischa's dad for a few days in the east village and then taking a bus to cooperstown. We are thinking we will do that on wednesday. Soo.... as soon as I find an opportunity to use a computer I will let all know what is going on. Goodbye! [View Full Entry]

Mischa is now going with me to the farm in new york. The man who owns it wasn't sure how he felt about the both of us coming for a visit but after talking to both of us on the phone he seems to be ok with it. As of now we are aiming to leave by this weekend. I can't even be excited about it because every time we think we have everything done then it turns out we have 5 more things to do or wait on. So that's the plan for now and if it changes again [View Full Entry]

So today is the first day this week I have had a chance to relax... being that all week even though I have not had a job I have had tons of errands to run in preparation for my travels. Packing for this trip was much different than any packing I have done before. Usually it takes me approximately 10 minutes to throw everything I need into some sort of bag but as I will be gone for a couple of months for this trip I spent a good two hours or so trying to figure out what I didn't really [View Full Entry]

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. -Ralph Waldo Emerson Well everybody, I guess that technically today is the big day. Today is the day that I leave the protection/confines of home and head out looking for the danger/adventure of the great Out There. My truck is packed and there's really no reason for me to be awake right now (5 short hours before I'm planning on leaving) except that I'm incredibly excited and ready to go. Tomorrow (technically today) is going to be a tough day driving. I [View Full Entry]

Added 414 miles to our trip...we were passing through West Virginia and entered Kentucky to visit our friends who moved away from Carper's Farm two years ago...the Lytle Family now in Louisville, Kentucky. Hogan was glad to get out and stretch his legs in the huge backyard. Emily and Nora were thrilled to have a "sleep over" with their friends Natalie and Isabel. What a nice stop on the way!! Louisville is beautiful...lots of golf courses! [View Full Entry]
