Walk of fame i Hollywood

I visited Los Angeles with a friend of mine from Simi Valley. This was actually my first time to the big city and a first to Hollywood Boulevard. Hollywood is a magical world of movies, a place where dreams come true and dreams die (double edged sword). For a layman like me, a visit to Hollywood was like taking a child to a candy store, I was very excited going in, but by the time I left I was wondering what the fuss was all about. But I got my Hollywood, and LA fix. Of course I did not know what to expect except for what I had seen in the movies or heard from people had visited there. The fact is, not all movies are made/ filmed in Hollywood, better yet on the famous Hollywood ... read more

Well, the journey is about to begin! My last day of work is Monday, and my plane leaves on November first. Look out Europe, here I come!!! Having my new and GREATLY improved passport (and my plane ticket) make this trip finally feel reel. I will be moving to Dusseldorf, Germany for a year to be an Au Pair with a family. The kids are young, 1 & 3, girl and boy respectively... I don't know what to expect this time. This will be my third trip to Germany, but I've never been there for so long before. The last time I was there, I was near Regensberg in Bavaria. That time was only a month long stay, and it wasn't enough. That gives me comfort to know that I won't be wishing I were "back ... read more

Okay, so I don't know how many of you know this, but last night I got home from Los Angeles after having spent almost four days (Saturday night until yesterday afternoon) with some of my first cousins from Saudi Arabia. I wasn't sure if I was going to do a blog about this trip, because I was nervous about people's reaction. However, my mom told my grandma and Uncle John and Aunt Dianne. They seem happy for me, and I appreciate that. I don't know if anyone reading this can fully understand how important this was for me (meeting some Saudi relatives for the first time in my life), and that's okay. I'm not asking anyone to be able to relate. I'm sure Nancy N. can, though. Anyway, as Aunt Dianne put it (my mom told ... read more

So I have subscribed to this site because I feel this will be the easiest way for me to communicate with everyone back home. Of course, email is still an option, but i can upload pictures on this and update my trip day to day! My sister and I leave on August 15th at 1:50am and we arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica at 10:55am. We're both terribly excited and ready to head out on our Costa Rican adventure. We're still working on our Chile Itinerary, which is absolutely terrifying since we leave tomorrow. We have 8 days in Costa Rica to figure it all out and free internet at most of the places we are staying so hopefully we won't be stranded anywhere in Chile. It's been pretty difficult getting ahold of people in Chile... ... read more

The second day of the trip already, I had gone across to the shops and gotten myself a nice freshly made juice, chocolate, crisps and sweets for the road trip around hehe. Some of the guys were a little worse for wear.....I was a little seedy but the juice helped and I was thankful I had stopped drinking when I did. First stop was going to be Mann Chinese Theatre once we made it out of the morning traffic, there was just so much traffic I don't know if I could handle it if I lived there. We drove down Rodeo Drive and had to stop at the end as some people weren't feeling to well.... oohh how we will remember Rodeo Drive LOL!!! Poor Emiko, I'm sure the girl was thinking what had she ... read more

Today we were booked on a LA city tour taking us to all the sights of LA, the celebrity hang outs and houses! I hadn't realised how massive LA is, there are so many different suburbs ranging from the ganglands downtown to Bel Air and Beverly Hills (90210!). Our first stop on the tour was the chinese theatre, the walk of fame and the kodak theatre which Jess and i had seen yesterday, so we took a second look but spent most of the time back in the tacky souviner shops - oh my god the tack you can buy, only in America! The next stop was back to the sign - we didn't get nearly as close as we did yesterday so Jess and i felt very smug! Our tour guide was very knowledgable ... read more

18/03/07 - 22/03/07 Los Angeles From out hotel on Wilshire, we walked the 2 blocks down to Rodeo Drive area and had brunch in a café on Beverly Drive. From our vantage point we were in people and car watching heaven. A 17- year old looking kid driving a convertible Ferrari, Mutton dressed as lamb stamped all over with Louis Vitton’s monogram, a plastic faced, tracksuit wearing woman steps out a Lamborghini and a bleach blonde complete with spray tan, fake boobs and barely clothed, wobbled past us on her unfeasibly high heel ankle boots. Porn star? We mused…. With serious Thai food withdrawal symptoms, we skipped past famous landmarks on Sunset strip; The restaurant owned by Prince, the Diner where Marilyn Monroe worked as a waitress before she was discovered, the carwash on which ‘The ... read more
