Saturday, October 8th,2011 The next day we went back to the underground to go shopping. My sister and I bought a nice pair of jackets and boots for $100.00. It was buy one and get one for $1. The store was called Ailes, which had similar stuff to one of our favourite stores, Fairweather in Toronto. After shopping we headed off to this street that Renata thought had antique and artist shops but it was pretty much a dead end. I did get a couple of pictures of the graffiti on the walls, which was pretty cool. After wandering around the streets and realizing that there was nothing interesting there, we headed back on the subway and went to this beautiful Church, Marie de la Monde. We then headed of to lunch at a local fast ... read more

The bus ride up from Boston to Montreal was very pretty, taking some 7 hours, we found that it passed quite quickly, a change of driver at White River, Vermont, the bus had to be fixed as the wind screen wipers had stopped working. The weather was a little wet and grey, but that did not change the views out of the bus window. We had front row seats on the bus, so top position. Entering in to Canada, was a hope off the bus and through customs and then back on the bus, ladies first of course, Jody did all the talking, and could not remember when we we leaving Canada, or answer all questions about where we were staying in Vancouver, so when Jody was finished I just said I'm following her…! We finally ... read more

Start of the Trip * The trip starts off in Montreal, Quebec. We arrived at the airport around 2pm local time due to a delay in the flight from Regina. We then took the bus from the airport to our Hostel which is located in the heart of downtown near old Montreal, the Bell Centre, rue la St. Laurent and the harbour. The hostel is call HI-Montreal. After check-in we settled in the room and went for a walk to explore downtown. That night there was a festival on Crescent street in celecrations of NASCAR this weekend. * Day two had us walking around downtown again, this time going down to the Bell Centre, where we toured the Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame. Woke up on Tuesday for a tour of Quebec city. Skipped breakfast as we had too much food the night before The citedal is beautiful and worth a visit. It is a Unesco world heretage site. The local guide was excellent and she had a voice that could possibly shatter glass at 50 paces. After the tour we had time to explore. The department store (Simons) and the railway hotel and roman catholic church. An early lunch sitting by an open window watching the world go by. Had excellent French onion soup complemented by a great wine. Our waiter had spent time working oposite the English National Opera in London and then lived in Aberwystwth for a year. Back to the hotel for a freshen up before a tour to the Montmorency falls. Followed by a ... read more

NOVA SCOTIA DAY 3 & 4 (May 24 & 25, 2010) I am going to combine the next two days of travel because I was just putting miles on to get to my destination. Don’t get me wrong, the ride is awesome and the scenery is spectacular, however, the last two days the weather was great, the bike was operating at top speed and I just decided to push on past my evening check points. I have been averaging around 450 to 500 miles per day. On the way from Thunder Bay to Nipigon I had to put on my rain suit to stay dry. Not a heavy rain but one that is irritating and just enough to get you soaking wet. As you probably know, I am not a “fair weather” rider and actually welcome ... read more

Tom: Overlooking Montreal there is a large 3 "peaked" hill called Mount Royal, which the clever people in wiki-land inform us gave the city it's name. So having been promised a postcard view we headed for the hills. Much sweat and even more grunts later we'd climbed to 2 of the 3 "summits" and the views were amazing, with panoramic views across Montreal and the surrounding countryside. After a pause at the top to enjoy the view we decided to visit the cross on another of the hills peaks that can be seen illuminated at night from all around Montreal, however as the trees obstructed the view it you can make do with an arty photo brought to you by Gingersnaps Inc. After returning to the hostel for a most excellent chilli it was time to ... read more

Tim: Fully rested, washed and recovered from the beer last night we set out to discover some of what Montreal has to offer. Montreal has a lovely old town which could put you in the middle of a small quaint French town, that was worth the walk. Coming out from the old town we mooched on down to the river side to have a look around. Nice place but alot of construction work is taking place at the moment and a big event is being set up in the port. This might mean that there will be some yaughties in town for me to go and 'rah' with down in the port. You never know I might meet a rich young lady with a boat that would keep me in the matter that I would like ... read more
