Tim: We awoke today at 7am for our 14 hour trip from Chicago to Seattle. We booked with US Airways, now we could have paid lots of money for a 4 hour direct flight but your talking $800 each, we paid $400 for both of us to get here so thats 100 quid each to cover many thousand miles. The first flight was slightly spoiled by a drunken redneck idiot who was sat in the row behind us, he had opinions on all sorts and was going to make sure that the whole aircraft knew about it. He eventually run out [View Full Entry]

Tim: I was feeling much better today. We set off out early into town full of hope and optimism :) We found our way into Chicago and headed (so we thought) towards Navy Pier...we actually went away from it and skillfully managed to ignore signs pointing us in the right direction, in our defence they were on the other side of the road and we were walkng away from them. We ended up there eventually! Whilst back enroute to combat bordom I took on the task of naming a US state every US flag we saw, needless to say by the [View Full Entry]

Tom: Okies, back to the US and A and Chicago. We check into our hostel after a good flight and a very bad metro ride, due to maintainance to the whole Chicago subway system (called the EL system, as much of the track is elevated above street level) and we find we've made a small balls up here. Skillfully we've managed to find a dry "Alcohol is Prohibited" hostel, which brought a tear to our eyes tho i'm sure our tummies will appreciate the rest. As friends back in Blighty happily inform us that the weather is very nice, we're finding [View Full Entry]

Tim: Today has been a good day. We took a metro down to the Biodome and went over to the Giles Villneave circuit, the home of Canadian Formula 1. Later in the day we have bonded a little bit more with the people in the hostel and we are outside with them playing a French drinking game called DIXIT. Now whilst writing this blog I should account for any gramatical or spelling errors by pointing out that I am DIXIT or "on it" because I rolled a three at the start of the game and every time a three is rolled [View Full Entry]

Tom: Overlooking Montreal there is a large 3 "peaked" hill called Mount Royal, which the clever people in wiki-land inform us gave the city it's name. So having been promised a postcard view we headed for the hills. Much sweat and even more grunts later we'd climbed to 2 of the 3 "summits" and the views were amazing, with panoramic views across Montreal and the surrounding countryside. After a pause at the top to enjoy the view we decided to visit the cross on another of the hills peaks that can be seen illuminated at night from all around Montreal, however [View Full Entry]

Tim: Fully rested, washed and recovered from the beer last night we set out to discover some of what Montreal has to offer. Montreal has a lovely old town which could put you in the middle of a small quaint French town, that was worth the walk. Coming out from the old town we mooched on down to the river side to have a look around. Nice place but alot of construction work is taking place at the moment and a big event is being set up in the port. This might mean that there will be some yaughties in town [View Full Entry]

Tim: We are now in Montreal. We took the train from Toronto to Montreal, it took us 5 hours on the train. It is all French here! We might as well be in France! Found the hostel really easily and it is very nice. You know it is going to be good when the first things someone says to you is "Hi we are going off to find a bar would you like to come?" - Facilities are really great here and the people relaxed and friendly. Tom and I set off with a small group to find a bar and [View Full Entry]

Tim: Today we are relaxing, well thats only because we are recovering. We went out last night to a pub with Phil and a load of his mates including his good lady wife. Tom knows Phil from back in Manchester. We had a really good night and we met alot of the locals which included some nice local girls, telephone numbers were exchanged... Today we have been out for food, coffee and some fresh air in order to try and make ourselves feel human again. We leave for Montreal tommorow afternoon and have a fair old journey up in the train [View Full Entry]

Tim: We woke up at the crack of dawn, so Dawn had to leave and we left shortly afterwards at 7am. As the title suggests we went to Niagara Falls today. We managed to pick up the trip for $60ca so around 30 quid. The tour also included a tour of Niagara Village and also a trip to a vineyard. The highlight of the day was obviously the great falls. For your delectation and ridicule we have included some pictures of us in stupid smurf smocks that we designed to keep us dry.....! I will also include one of me with [View Full Entry]

Tim: As the title suggests it was one of those random go with the flow and see where you end up days which turned out to be a "great success" as Borat would say. Woke up (good start) and went out around 11:30am. Maybe we were a bit lazy in getting up but hey we had a long day before doing the get from A to B thing. Went to the centre of town and saw a few of the sights in the middle of Toronto, the main sight being the CN tower which claims to be the tallest building in [View Full Entry]
