The last two days have been full of lots of food, fun and a very bad film. Last night I went to the last evening of the Toronto International Film Festival. We saw "Love and other bruises". It's a chinese/french film. It is the WORST movie EVER. There was no plot. There was no real dialogue. There was every cliche "arty" shot EVER thought of. There were way too many sex scenes - all of which were weird and mostly unnecessary. The acting was ok I guess. Overall, I would say it was the most stupid film I have ever seen. If you hear of it - DO NOT GO AND SEE IT!!! The film was the only sour part of an otherwise lovely day. Rachel and I ate and had some drinks at the very ... read more

... and so continuing from our previous blog on Buffalo. Just another long weekend trip for us driving 10 hours and countless of miles to experience life in other places. First stop after crossing the border into Canada - NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE (Canadian side). What a little gem of a place that we never knew existed. Right smack in the middle of Canadian wine country - again no idea this existed, but I guess every country has its wine "area". We thought the Eastern Townships by Montreal was it, but oh were we mistaken. We did a last minute booking at the River Breeze Inn while driving. We definitely are starting to like the whole B&B scene more and more. It just gives you that little extra experience in meeting people and hearing their story. Our room was ... read more

Sitting at our gate. Boarding started 20 minutes ago and they're still doing priority boarding. It's no wonder they start boarding an hour before the flight. Everything has gone smoothly so far, but I forgot my earplugs for the flight =( Hopefully I will be able to sleep on the plane without them. Pictures will come soon as promised.... read more

LH 0473 is moments away. We will fly to Dusseldorf and catch our connecting flight to Budapest. We have known about the Premium Plaza Lounge for a while and sent our son Andrew and his girlfriend Loveita here as a sending off gift when they flew to Fort Mcmurray for new careers. Andrew raved about the quality and the relaxed atmosphere. Private lounges at airports were once reserved for First Class only passengers. Now, for a fee, all passengers may come to the lounge for 2 or 3 hours prior to boarding and enjoy a hot buffet, wine, beer and mixed drinks while sitting in a lounge with leather upholstered chairs. Three of the 5 lounges at Pearson have showers and all have 22" wide screen computers for the use of guests. Newspapers and other reading ... read more

We enjoyed a brief visit to Toronto, the largest city in Canada on the impressive Lake Ontario. Luckily for us, we stayed with our friends who have an awesome top floor condo in downtown Toronto. Downtown Toronto has heaps of great modern condo buildings and an impressive skyline with the CN Tower standing out amongst the buildings. We didn't come to Toronto to do the touristy things, but wandered around the harbour area and checked out a few of the notable buildings and the shops. I also went for a run which enabled me to check out some of the nice park areas around Downtown. Toronto actually reminds me of Australian cities in many ways. It isn't a really touristy place, but is easy to get around and has plenty to do. The highlight of the ... read more

Beautiful day on our last day in Ontario. Great trip down the four-zero-one to the park-n-fly. It's only a max 8 minute wait for a shuttle to come pick you up at the lot. I'm thinking that before our driver started it was probably a ten minute wait but his Nascar style driving(skillfully just barely keeping all 4 wheels of our mini bus on the road during 3g cornering) probably shaved 2 minutes off the trip. Vicki's monster suitcase tipped the scales at 20 kg(allowed 25) Whew!! Had golden ceasars and swiss chalet at a diner/bar. Now we have a 1 1/2 hour wait to board. 8 hours till Glasgow!!... read more

In conclusion… An Open Letter to My New Friends Around the Globe Hi there! It’s Traveling Greg, or maybe now you can call me Formerly Traveling Greg, or—most accurately—On Hiatus From Traveling Greg*. That’s right. My traveling years have ended. I’m in Toronto now. As of tomorrow, I will be a full-time student at the Rotman School of Business. Some of you met me in 2009, and if I haven’t spoken with you since then, you may be thinking that was quite a long time ago. Your life could be completely different now vs. then. But, periodically, every couple of months, you received another e-mail from me with another album of pictures. I was still on the road. Early on, I called it the Great Freedom. The name fit. img=https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uj5DHHKMBao/StqCnpbABKI/AAAAAAAAAms/82PPCkR0Ovc/s640/DSC04943.JPG I remember the excitement of the ... read more

I've been looking all over the internet for blogs about other people's travels lately as I have been doing a little bit of traveling myself for the past couple of years. I found this website and it made me want to create my own page so I can share my own travel adventures to my fellow travellers out there. I haven't been to a lot of places yet but I am taking it one city at a time. For a long time I always wondered why I never had something that I love or am passionate about. You know how some people are so passionate about something like writing, crafts, dancing and so on. Now I think I found my passion and I intend to nurture and cultivate it as long as I have the resources ... read more
