Well, it's been awhile since I've used this fun little blog. I guess nothing has really happened in the passed long while that would require me to update it. Well, now there's something to write about. As most of you know I'll be going on another adventure this year. This time I'll be going on something a bit less crazy compared to India. I'll be heading out to the wonderful British Columbia coast to go on a walk of great distance. (I know most of you know what I'm doing, but I figure I'd type it all out for my records too). I'll be leaving Ontario bound for Vancouver Island where I'll traverse the exterior of the island. I'm not 100% sure of all the things that I'll be doing there, but the main idea is ... read more

Akwaaba! Welcome to my little corner of the cyberspace world. I will be spending the summer of 2007 working in Saboba in North-eastern Ghana with Engineers Without Borders. I will post more specific details as they become available. I leave for Ghana on May 6th after a thorough training in Toronto. Thank you all for sharing in this journey with me. Bio: My name is Dan and I am currently a biology student at McMaster University. I was born in the United Kingdom and have lived most of my life in Canada mostly in Edmonton, Alberta. I have also lived in Manitoba and Ontario. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA (honours) in anthropology in 2004. From there I went on to work at a constituency office for Rick Miller, the shadow critic ... read more

Day 1 It was a day like any other day except the flight from Glasgow to London took off late then held us in holding pattern just to make sure we were sweating over the time to check in for the next flight. Thankfully we made it but our luggage it turns out did not (now currently reported MIA somewhere in Heathrow). The flight went fairly well until someone ordered a James Bond cocktail and the pilot had to shake us around for two solid hours, but we are here safe and sound but may have to wear the same pants for a few days (and we don't mean in the american sense) however this doesnt phase kenny. ... read more

Well as you may or may not know, I've been strategically approaching local businesses to get goods donated for the school. I picked up tons more stuff today so I thought the logical step would be to let you all know what I've collected so far: * From Titles (campus bookstore) : 300 pencils * From the McMaster Health Centre : 400 bandaids, 800 antiseptics * From Fortinos : 10 dictionnaries, 120 big pieces of sidewalk chalk, 2 kids card games, 2 boxes of crayons, 2 packs of pencil crayons, 1 cribbage board * From Grand and Toy : 72 pens, 1 box of chalk, a whole pile of post-it tabs * From McMaster Physical Plant : 3 big boxes of chalk (400+ish pieces) * From Europe Bound : 1 frisbee * From the Engineering Society ... read more

So I've lasted this long in my life without the need for a blog, but I've decided this is likely the best way to let everyone know what I'm doing this summer. But now back to midterms... I leave in 44 days and have way too much to do between now and then!... read more

It appears that my first location in this journal is incorrect. I am not in Hamilton, I am infact in Burlington. Silly TravelBlog does not list Burlington as a real place. Anyhow, yeah, this is really just a test entry, so there isn't supposed to be any 'heart' in this entry. Hopefully it will get more interesting as time passes. :) Ciao for now!... read more

I arrived in Canada with a $200 fine above my head. For anyone planning to bring an apple into the country anytime soon, apparantly it's not a good idea. Fortunately my British charm and wit saw me through - "You can't bring that into the country." "Haha, oh well - you could have it for your lunch if you like." "No, we have to incinerate it." "Oh". A good start, I hastened through customs being let off the fine, to find Danielle waiting in the crowd at arrivals. It was great to see her again. In fact, it's been wonderful to see everyone again. These two weeks have pretty much been 'reunion fortnight' so expect lots of names in this blog. For these two weeks, everything has converted back to how it was 2 years ago. ... read more
