Canadian Warplane Museum FLY FEST - Father's Day weekend. Normally I don't post a blog other than when we are travelling but this is something special. Elke got us passes for both days of FLY FEST at the Warplane Museum in Mount Hope outside of Hamilton. We drove down to Hamilton on Friday night so we could get an early start on Saturday. The weather was perfect! I wanted mostly to go for a ride in the B-25 Mitchell fighter bomber but the opportunity came up to also go for a ride in a Harvard trainer. The Harvard was used to train Spitfire pilots in WW2. It has roughly the same handling characteristics but not the same power. When my name was called I had to go thru a short talk on safety and how to ... read more

This hike is over 2 days. The first hike was on May 14th and the 2nd part was on May 28th. The first day I hiked with my friend Danielle Takacs. We met up at Jolley Cut and took one of our cars to the Devil's Punchbowl. The area does look like a punchbowl but I am not certain why would it be considered a Devil's punchbowl. Anyway we took a short blue marked side trail down the punchbowl to meetup with the Bruce Trail. The hike was fairly hilly and we went up and down the escarpment. We had some good views of the city of Hamilton and Stoney Creek as we walked along. Danielle hasn't hiked in a while so we were going at slightly slower pace than I usually do. We saw some ... read more

Today would be my first full day hiking in the Iroquioan section of the Bruce Trail. I have already mailed my travel blog to the Niagara Trail association. Starting hiking at 8AM at Beamer Conservation Area. The first 2 km or so is walking down Ridge Rd. You should keep walking until you see the communication tower and turn right. You walk for another 500 meter until you turn onto the trail. This trail runs along the edge of the Escarpment and has a nice view of the Lake in the distance. The trail is fairly level and easy to walk on. You will pass over Fifty Road and McNeilly Rd but for the most part you are just walking through the woods. I was the first one walking through that morning and I knew this ... read more

Well this comes to the end of our trip. We had a great time and glad to be home. Took a lot of pictures which will be my next project, and get some of the better ones posted and printed. Should we have stayed a bit longer yes we could have, but I wanted to spend some time, before heading back to work and enjoy what we have here, cause once it's back to work, and winter coming time will be in short supply. Tom has four provinces left to see I have five, and he is already saving for a R-Pod trailer so we can hit the road and bring our bed with us. Hope everyone enjoyed this blog, with its technical difficulties and will be sure to do a better job on the next ... read more

We are home. It funny how much you yearn for home when you've been away for so long. Leading up to a trip you can't wait to go. Hotels, restaurant, adventures everyday. But after a while, in our case about 20 days, you're sick of restaurant food and just want your usual. You're sick of hotels, and just want you home. You're a little weary of adventure, and just want routine. That is where we are now, at home: the best hotel in the world. The trip was amazing, with excellent food, fun adventure and a good relaxation. We decided that we would end this trip with a final blog telling you all our favourite and least favourite things about the trip. Think of it as a top ten and bottom ten. A best and worst. ... read more

Preparation has begun, albeit slowly. There is so much to do, but in order to do any of it, decisions have to be made and I don't seem to be too good at those as of late. I did order some new insect-repellent clothing for the trip and it just arrived last week. Happily it all fits and I love it! Now to just resist overpacking... bringing too much... like a pair of underwear for each day of the trip, plus a third more, "just in case!" That's 80 pairs of gitch... not sure I own that many pairs! :/ I might have to alter that philosophy and instead pack some laundry soap. Progress!... read more

When I was in my third year of university, living in Italy with my nonna, she bought me an agenda. It was beautiful; it was leather and compact and I still have it and use it today. In the back of that agenda, I made a list. I called it my "Life List". I started to make a list of all the things that I dreamed about doing in my life. I soon noticed that scattered throughout the list were all the different places I dreamed of visiting. Oftentimes today, (thanks mostly to Jack Nicholson and Robin Williams, I think), a list such as mine is referred to as a bucket list; I still prefer to call mine my Life List. I think of it more as a list of things to do while I am ... read more
