Well, as hopefully you know by now we made it home with no worries - despite the best attempts of the good old British weather to stop our plane landing. Having slotted back in to the ways and luxuries of England (far too easily) we had Christmas with the families before heading up to Blakeney for new years on the Norfolk coast. We decided that if we were going to cook anything (everyone was expecting dinner!) it had to be a curry... so we spent all afternoon on the 31st trying to understand our scrawled recipes from our two cooking courses in India. After a good few hours we'd cracked out a few dishes that were by no means 'export quality' but did the job that evening! The night went down pretty well and thanks again ... read more

Hey all So I'm sitting on the couch with the flu and though it was the perfect opportunity to send a blog. So, appart form the flu, things are going great (arnt they always?). I've finally slowed down on the work front and now just do part time instead of 7 days a week. It feels wanderful. I even got down to Vancouver for 4 days last week and saw the Canucks play (a huge vancouver hockey team) which was not as fun as i though it would be I have to say. Seeing as I dont know the rules or players I wasn't feeling much love. Plus we lost. Badly!! Bit At least I saw them and got a T-shirt out of it. the night out after was much better. Xmas and new year went ... read more

I heard it was around 40 degrees in Sydney, Australia, a few days back. A huge 70 degree (Celsius) difference between us and home. Yes that’s right guys and gals, it was - (minus) 30 degrees, a cold that I have never experienced before, a cold that when you remove your gloves to take a picture, 10 seconds later you lose the feeling in the hands, a cold that gives you a constant brain freeze. The weather channel called it an Artic Dry event. There was no wind chill, a still day at -30c was just C.O.L.D. We took the girls up the Gondola, and after a little snowboarding, Alissa stated that she doesn’t do chairlifts and she certainly doesn’t do - 30 degrees, she did end up mastering the chairlift but I don’t think any ... read more

It’s been hard to keep my blogs updated. Internet café’s have been difficult to get to so that’s why Rohan and I have been sharing blogs. We’ve been in Whistler now for the past 7 days and it’s finally time to say goodbye to the mountain and head off back down to Vancouver. Whistler Blackcomb is an amazing place to visit. Boarding on these mountains is absolutely awesome. Whilst staying here temperatures ranged from 0 to -30 degrees and that’s thanks to the Arctic Blast that you may have heard about in the news. And let me tell you, I don’t work well in -30. We only managed to get up the mountain 4 out of 7 days to snowboard, due to strong winds. Roh and I went to buy lift tickets but we were told ... read more

We glide into Vancouver direct from San Fran, the plane is buffeted a little as we land. I’m back in Canada!!!, as most of you know I have a soft spot for the land of the maple leaf. Something about this place, even though it’s freezing and has snow top mountains surround the city of Vancouver; it somehow reminds me of home. During our stay we Rode around Stanly Park, visited the Beluga whales at the aquarium again. And Cam, this time we didn’t get wet. We stayed out of the splash zone. I have been to the snow every year for the last decade, Perisher, Thredbo, New Zealand and even Canada 2 years ago. I have never seen so much snow as I have in the last 72 hours. Friday the 5th we woke to ... read more

Arrived in Whilster on Friday afternoon and there sure is plenty of snow this year. Since arriving we've see over 1/2 a metre of fresh powder fall. This snow is amazing. Fresh powder certainly beats the graded snow and ice we are used to boarding on. No need to go off the track to find powder. If you do you sink up to your neck.... We're all having an awesome time here. Certainly a place I be returning to in the future. No chance to up load any photos, so check out Rohan's blog to see SNOW. all the same pics anyway. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/British-Columbia/Whistler-Blackcomb/blog-117548.html ... read more

Its really hard to believe that its Christmas in 2 days! Although its very atmospheric with all the lights in the pine trees, and even though I’m constantly humming cheesy Christmas songs in my head after listening to them all day at work, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas! Perhaps it’s the sub zero temperatures, or the notable lack of the smell of mangoes, gardenias and jasmine in the air, and very much the fact that my family and friends are on the other side of the world… oooh I think the homesickness is setting in!! I wish you all a very merry Christmas - be sure to have a few prawns for me and soak up some sunshine. Oh yes there’s something else that we’re lacking here! I am really missing you all and will ... read more

Well my loyal followers, my biggest apologise for not gettin these shots up earlier but Whistler is an expensive place and my time is a little limited. Most of my spare time is taken up with snow boarding, sleeping or going to the local bars with my new crew of mates. There a little bit crazy but i fit right in and they are more than accepting of my bizarre way of life. I live in Staff housing which is a bit like halls or residence and i share my flat with two girls, Vanessa from Vancouver and Angela from Brisbane its not too bad at all and i get on with them great. It wouldn't matter if i didnt though cause Whistler is the most amazing touristy place i've ever been. Theres a surprisingly strong ... read more
