"Wow, how many are there?" Asked the lady on the roadside. She was, of course referring to the bevvy of beavers that have taken up residence by our driveway. Busy as... well... beavers, they have been wreaking havoc in the most adorable sense of the word. Trees that have stood for many a year are painstakingly nawed to the ground. The stump hone into a perfect point, the trunk stripped of its branches and said branches, combined skillfully with mud are crafted expertly into a dam, blocking off our storm water drain. Creating their own private pool. The Beavers have become much loved members of the community, bus drivers stop to gawk, passersby pause to ogle, the children I nanny enquire after their wellbeing. I love watching them and can be entertained for ages watching them ... read more

Left home quite early in the morning and headed to Whistler. Made a couple of stops before arriving. -Shannon Falls (second time visiting, the viewing platform is new, easier to take portrait pix in front of the falls) -Alice Lake (nth spectacular about this lake, lots of bugs above the water, mountain backdrop is nice tho) -Brandywine Falls (absolutely beautiful, can't miss it, the best i've seen so far in BC!) Arrival upon Whistler Parking was pretty full by the time we arrived, which was before 12pm, it was a really bright sunny day, had lunch at Subway, then took the gondola up to Roundhouse, the ride was 30mins last OMG, with no ventenlation except a tiny window. The chairlift was much nicer, open air, gorgeous views, pretty steep, ppl afraid of height might not be ... read more

Wow! We have just checked into the most amazing hotel - the Adara in Whistler, all very hip and designer! We have a faux mink throw on the bed, a rainshower head in the bathroom, wallmounted fireplace and a funky red chaise longue thingy! (“Louisa would definitely approve of this place!” - Al). Only problem is I want to listen to the soothing sounds dream machine (hmm… ‘ebb tide’ or ‘rainforest’?) while Al wants to plug his iPod into the Bose sound system. And if he didn’t have an iPod he could just go get a complimentary one from reception and use that!! In fact, we might just do that for the hell of it! Sorry, I’m rushing ahead… In summary, we’re on day 3 of our four week weddingmoon. The trip breaks down roughly as: ... read more

We pulled into the bus stop at Creekside around 5 in the afternoon after the scenic drive from Vancouver to Whistler. Jim's friend Jeff met us and helped haul our bags up the hill to his place. We'd planned to stay with him and Shannon until we found a place but Jeff gave us the news that his friend Rosie had told him the day before that she was looking for someone to rent her one bedroom apartment. Word of mouth is a powerful tool in such a small community and over the months here I have come to realise getting good stuff here at good prices often comes down to who you know. We dropped off our luggage and made our way on foot on a nice little trail past a pond, over some rocks ... read more

Hey Dudes, just another quick update. Things are still going well here in sunny Whistler. Well actually less of the sunny. Unfortunatly we've just indured a week and a half of rain and clouds but finally on the 15th of July, out comes the sun. It was a momentus occasion!!!!! So, last weekend ( I think I already mentioned) Tom and I went camping. I am now finally getting round to blogging the pics. We went to Nairan Falls, a little North of Whistler and just sount of Pemberton. An interesting camp site as each site was floored with gravel. A little uncomfortable for sleeping, but we did have a tent where you could remove the outer layer and sleep under the stars without being attacked by mozzies!!! There was also a fire pit, so real ... read more

Hey all. Just a quick one with some pics of a beautiful mountain lake just south of Whistler. We were supposed to camp but I got a crappy summer cold and was too rough to sleep under the stars! We may go somewhere else next weekend. I'll keep you posted! So, I made it into the local papers last week with the Cat Empire. Theres a shot os the band playing and some of the audience. You can just see me and Tom boogying down a couple of rows back from the front. I'm keeping the pic as a souvineer. Anyway. I hope all is well with everyone. Loads a love. Anna.... read more
