Got caught in a bit of traffic, so a bit longer to reach Ed’s than expected, so he was starving by the time I turned up, so we headed straight out, on foot, to Frankie & Benny’s for a very nice meal (I seem to keep saying that, there’s lots of nice food everywhere I go), with a bit of wine, and another good catch up - our family really doesn’t see each other than often! Back to the house for a bit of a look on Facebook and caught up with Hannah’s wedding pictures - lots of them! Then crashed out… Ed had gone to work by the time I woke up. Spent the morning on the internet, sorting out car tax, on Facebook, looking up a few travel bits and bobs, and want my ... read more

FRIENDS, I JUST DISCOVERED THIS WENT UNPUBLISHED _ SORRY, IT WILL BE OUT OF ORDER, but I THINK I MIXED THINGS UP WHEN I TRIED TO ADD PHOTOS. It's 10:30 on Friday morning and there's a break in the action, so I thought I would write a few lines before we head into the villages of Aylesbury and Wendover. Though we had plans for Stratford-on-Avon, we just didn't think we would have time to "do" the city properly and wrap up things with Pam and Charles. We got up at a leisurely pace this morning after a full day yesterday, enjoyed walking around Wendover (saw Charles' sporting goods shop) shopped in Aylesbury and now doing some laundry in preparation of tomorrow's departure. Our major events on Thursday included an absolutely amazing (I believe I have ... read more

Hi everyone We are currently in Kent having left London this morning none the wiser about the bomb threat. The biggest problem here is which pub to go to! The bomb threat was around the Haymarket area where we had been the afternoon before the bomb threat. No hint of of anything to come, just the usual London hustle, bustle and rain. Just shows you how things can change!! The train trip was great, fast smooth and scenic. Now we have both been to Kent, ther birthplace of Sandy's Dad. The ntown is great, full of french school kids on excursion and the town is very historic. Looking forward to seeing Gavin & Helen tomorrow for more explorations. England is still enduring the wettest weather you can imagine! Floods, tornadoes in fact everything you don't associate ... read more

Ok, Liverpool was a touch on the dull side. Nothing against the town itself, but it is a bit Disney makeover-ish. We did get to go on a Beatles driving tour and see some really great stuff from the history of that band, which was cool. In addition to seeing their homes we got to see things like Penny Lane, an orphanage where John Lennon use to befriend the young orphaned boys, called Strawberry Fields, and ended the evening with a drink at The Cavern Club, which isn’t really the actual Cavern Club, it’s down the road and across the street. It was very small, very crowded, and very hot. Add to this the very, very loud guitarist playing average cover versions of songs and I made a point of getting out of there asap. Sadly, ... read more

Mary and Peter drove us into London this morning and dropped us off at our hotel, the first check point for the Trafalgar Tour we’ll be on for the next 10 days. It was a cozy drive with the 4 of us sharing the back seat and all of our luggage fit in the back of a small station wagon type car. We did some more sight seeing in London, enjoying the Buildings of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately we had missed the visiting hours for Westminster Abbey. I was quite set on going in, though, as this was something Janessa and I had missed when we were in London last year due to bad buses. We lined up for what we thought was a brief spoken prayer service but ended up being ... read more

Hey guys! I have just arrived in old London town and let me say... wow, this place is huge. Its the most bustling place I've ever been. Simply awesome. I'll start with... the flight over really bites. 26 hours of travel including the 6 hours in Bangkok airport. It was kinda ok cause I met some people and we chilled out at a local Thai joint (and Burger King... how terrible) for the most part. The airport there is quite new and is amazing. Its kinda hard to explain but I'll post some photos on my blog site when i get a chance. I met my first 'single serving' friend (kudos to those who get that...) on the last leg over, an Aussie from Brisbane who has spent the last 6 months trekking Asia... after speaking ... read more

Nomading My Way Through Londontown I woke up early in London after a pretty good night's sleep. My roommate, Tatiana, from Canada, came in late the night before and we decided to try and hit up the Double Decker bus tour today to get the most out of our full day in London. Our first stop of the day was Buckingham Palace. Somehow from all the royal family hype in the U.S. I was really expecting this to be a gorgeous place. It was OK. The gates around it were the most "royal" looking thing about the building. We got there just in time to walk around before witnessing the changing of the guards. I'm sure most would have considered this great timing, but my main goal for Buckingham Palace was taking a picture with one ... read more

We are all set. Managed to pack for every eventuality (I hope) and spot on the 20 kg weight limit, only problem is I am likely to snap in half if I have to attempt to carry the bag on my back! Thankfully there are always the wheels or James. A big thank you to everyone for all the presents, cards, drink purchases and kind words over the last couple of weeks. Thanks to those who came to our leaving BBQ, Michelle for dinner the other night and those who came along to my work leaving do, it was a good night (at least the bits I can remember!) Photos courtesy of Sue (thank you). Stay in touch and remember we want to hear from you as well. Off for a glass of bubbly (cheers to ... read more
