Hi Australia. Just got back from London... lots of new news! Left Edinburgh last Wednesday after I was rudely awakened at the ungodly hour of 9am to catch the 1130am bus to London. Had sussed out the bus station so I there were no chances of me getting lost before I even left. The bus ride was a painful 10hour trip on uncomfortable seats... But being unemployed and time not being a consideration in my life at the moment, I took the cheapest option - return for 30 pound - and had a long journey ahead. It wasn't too bad, my iPod and book kept me entertained and as ESTA people would know, I'm quite accustomed to long periods of boredom. (Zoe: I'm reading Anna Karenina - finally! Great book for the trip) Arrived in London ... read more

Greetings all, no news is good news - things have been going well, but as it appears Paris does not have internet cafes either - and even if it did, Bambie would not allow me a minute off to spend time in one. OK on leaving New York I ventured off to Hamptons Bays with my friends Ken and Judith for 2 days of total relaxation and nuture/nature. They have a beautiful 1919 shingle home on the waterfront - with this lush green lawn (who can remember those!) that they have just finished renovating (clever architect Ken). Jet lag finally caught up with me and I turned into a BLOB - luckily they had nothing more strenous planned than sipping on the odd cocktail and reading books. Judith is the publisher of a book The Secret ... read more

What an amazing day! I'd always dreamed of being a professional tennis player when I was younger. I used to get up at 2 or 3am, or stay up all night to watch every Grand Slam match. Wimbledon has always stood apart from the rest (for most tennis lovers I'm sure) as the home of tennis and 'that special place'. I'd read on the Wimbledon web page that you had to take a bus from Southfields station to get there. Thinking that the site may not have been updated recently I stayed on the train 2 stops past Southfields to Wimbledon. Pretty logical I thought but when I asked where the tennis centre was it was back to Southfields! (I'm sure I'm not the first to make that mistake). After meeting 2 Aussies who were working ... read more

Do not pass go, just go straight to JUST VISITING via Wimbelton Station. You have a couch, so the rent charges do not apply but you still have to use our ridiculously strong Monopoly money. As always British Airways and Hethro pulled through. Our plane was delayed but I managed to text Stu to say I was going to be late. The only bonus was getting drunk in the back of the plane yarning to the cabin crew. One of which had been caught by those vans with speeding cameras in NZ and was quizzing me about the effect it would have on his insurance. Poor guy arrived home to find several speeding tickets. I eventually met up with Stu around midnight, feeling more than guilty for messing him about on a Friday night. His ... read more

So I was left with one instruction for his holiday by el Bastardo and that was to write an entry for our blog but its funny how a whole bunch of stuff can get in the way of that, … the fine fuckheads at STA travel failed to actually books us on to any of our flight which is a problem when you are leaving in less than three day, so after a bunch of phone calls and chairs being thrown about, our tickets arrived at 5.15pm today. A little side note to this story, el Bastardo is no longer allowed into any of the STA Travel branches, something to do with some rule about making their employees cry and beat them with chairs…. Thinking about it that still does not explain what I was doing….right, ... read more

So i was sitting at my desk this afternoon when a completely random girl walked up to me and started rabbiting on about a whole bunch of stuff, but mostly the Lonely Planet guide sitting on my desk. We got to talking about Cambodia and Vietnam, where she'd been sometime a while back (what makes you think i was focussing on how hot she was?). We're talking about back packing in general, and she swings the conversation onto the subject of Shooting Animals with Big Guns. Pretty random in my book, but she's pretty and i figure that gives her ...well, leeway to talk about whatever the hell she wants. So I mention some borderline ballas about hunting in SA, totally not getting the drift of where this is going, until she pulls out this gem. ... read more
