Barcelona is possibly the most exisite place I've ever seen. A bustling city centre with amazing architecture, history, shopping and food, and calm stretches of beach make it one of the the best holiday destinations in the world. I went with my Aussie friend Renata for 6 days and we were certainly not disappointed. We stayed at a hostel not far from the city centre and spent our days exploring the unique world of Barcelona. On the first day we went into the heart of Barcelona and were mesmorised by the scenery and food. We ate in a cafe that served tradiitional Spanish food and enjoyed a pint of San Miguel with a plethora of tapas and paella. We had a plate of cured meats that began my addiction to procuitto. I've never been a big ... read more

Back in bonny Scotland, just returned from the trip of a life time to Cape Town, South Africa. Got many pics to share with you all, sorry they take a long time to upload but I finally got there. Here goes! I went on the 20th June to 30th June so it was just a quick visit. I went with a very good friend of mine, Andre who was born in South Africa but now resides in Scotland. He went home to visit his family and I was lucky enough to have a host of people look after me. I arrived late Friday night and we just went back to Andre's mates house for some much needed sleep. The next day we were up and off to his parent's house for a traditional braai. This is ... read more

The grey skies have cleared, the rain and hail have ceased and sunshine has arrived! Well, maybe only temporarily but we're making the most of it. Tuesday saw Renata finish her last day of work after handing in her resignation a few weeks ago. We took the opportunity to head to St Andrews Square, a recently re-done park. I took the camera down to capture a day in the sun and thought I'd share the pics with you all. Enjoy.... read more

As you are probably all aware, I haven't used this site for a while... I haven't been doing much, haven't been anywhere since Norway and have really just settled into life here. Renata and I have moved into a place of our own, just around the corner from my work - 240 steps to be exact - so I don't really get past my own street much these days. The weather has started to improve though, which has been nice. It's 9pm here at the moment and just starting to get dark. All we need is a little more sunshine and life would be so sweet... I really haven't been doing that much lately... A couple of weeks ago Renata and I went to Newcastle, about 2hours away by train, to see a DJ called Mix ... read more

It's been a LONG time, I am so very sorry. Let me start a month back when we visited Norway. Unfortunately Ryan and Kim couldn't come so it was Jase, Becky and I on the road again. We left early one day in November (details will be sketchy!) and caught the train to Glasgow. No hiccups, all went well and we arrived in Oslo airport. Thanks to Bree (Becky's sister) and a very special friend of hers we were being greeted at the airport by a tall, smiling girl by the name of Linn. Not knowing anything else about her, we sat in anticipation discussing the skinniness and tallness of girls walking by trying to work out if it was her. After some time, we heard an announcement for "Jason, Becky and Sarah" to come to ... read more

Hi again... A lot has happened in the short time since my last blog... I'm working in a couple of bar/cafes here now, one at a place with Jase and Ryan (two boys I'm here with). It's a really relaxed bar/restaurant that plays a lot of Jazz. It's a cruisy workplace, the whole work ethic here is very laid back. If it's not busy, you aren't really expected to do anything. The other bar is a Karova-ish type bar, I've only done one shift there. It was also pretty laid back and a couple of hours into the shift the supervisor announced "Staff meeting". I didn't know what was going on cos the bar was really busy - rugby grandfinal. But apparently it is custom for all the staff to stop serving, while the patrons ... read more

Hi Australia. Just got back from London... lots of new news! Left Edinburgh last Wednesday after I was rudely awakened at the ungodly hour of 9am to catch the 1130am bus to London. Had sussed out the bus station so I there were no chances of me getting lost before I even left. The bus ride was a painful 10hour trip on uncomfortable seats... But being unemployed and time not being a consideration in my life at the moment, I took the cheapest option - return for 30 pound - and had a long journey ahead. It wasn't too bad, my iPod and book kept me entertained and as ESTA people would know, I'm quite accustomed to long periods of boredom. (Zoe: I'm reading Anna Karenina - finally! Great book for the trip) Arrived in London ... read more

Hi Again... Just got back from a 4 day road trip around Scotland. The sights were absolutely amazing! Beautiful countryside... I left my map details at home so I may not know names of some of the places we visited but I'll do my best... We departed from Edinburgh on Monday and first stopped in Stirling, a beautiful little town with castle and the Wallace monument, which you may or may not have heard of (I hadn't!)... The monument is erected in the name of Sir William Wallace, who took his campaign for freedom into battle and on to victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. We actually got to see the bridge where the battle took place, and climbed the monument to find some breathtaking views. The first night was spent in ... read more
