OMG! I've been locked away for 5 days and looks like the only things those 2 porkers have been doing is eating! What's with all the food! And then all I hear about today is that their jeans have shrunk in the dryer! Yeah right!! Wake up and smell the coffee (p.s.. You don't need a cake with every coffee you have ladies!) So of we go for a 15 minute walk to Madam Tessaudes..... The 2 FL's huff and puff their way down the road but we make it there ok. FL Ana saw her future husband Mr Clooney... Lucky there was security near by... I reckon she would have jumped him if there wasn't. No one needs to see that. I got to meet Miss Julia Roberts! She's such a "Pretty Woman" hahahaha!!! I ... read more

24 May It's Carmen birthday.....I woke her up with a video from our dear friends, birthday present and cup cake...not just a cupcake but one from Harrods...yesterday .I told her that I was going to buy a Harrods bag and be right back . 10 minutes later....(there was a long queue for cakes) I then hid it in my shopping and sneaked it in the fridge when we got back...she was none the wiser....So we got up, had breakfast including cupcake....we looked outside, raining...we were used to the small showers....but this time it was heavy rain....so we headed to Westfield London. The shopping centre is massive..it is bigger than the parramatta one. .It has its own bus terminal attached and station is five minutes from the shopping centre...the shopping centre itself reminded us of the Bondi ... read more

21 May Trip from Edinburgh to London was 4 1/2 hours....for us it seemed to go quickly maybe because there was only four stops, York, Darlington, Newcastle, Haymarket, kings cross. There wasn't a lot of scenery other than sheep, greenery or these yellow flowers, which I'm still trying to figure out..We arrived at Haymarket station and guess what I got confused and started walking the other way to get our bags....but that's not all...when Carmen figured out we were going the wrong way....we couldn't get our bags down...they were locked in lol.... We try getting people to open it for us but there was no one around...finally this guy and girl opened the damn thing....I told Carmen we should walk past the Harry porter station but she said it was just for nerds....well yes that's why 9 ... read more

My first full day in London was packed. I fully expected that the second day would be equally as aggressive, however the first day’s evening festivities got the better of me. I spent the majority of the day in bed, recovering in my normal sleep-until-the-pain-stops routine. This is actually the best time to sleep in a hostel. No one is snoring through the afternoon and you aren’t interrupted by assholes (such as myself) stumbling in at 4 AM. People walking in during the afternoon use much quieter voices and are generally sober & respectful of those sleeping. The same cannot be said for those walking in during the middle of the night. The evening of Day 2 was spent in great conversation with a lovely Irish lass, who sympathized with my condition from the night before. ... read more

Sunday I flew to London on no sleep thanks to a group of Austin, TX based flight attendants I met Friday night. Well, I should say I got some sleep between Friday and Saturday, but the hangover and physical exhaustion really set in at the airport on Sunday morning. The flight to London felt like it went quickly (all airlines need to pick up the habit of putting complimentary movie screens in the back of their seats regardless of ticket class). Heathrow is an easy airport to navigate, but I had some helpful advice from a friend of the family on how to get through the Underground quickly and hit the right stops to cross London and get to my hostel in the London Bridge area. The Underground ride was long and annoying after my flight, ... read more

London – the swinging 60;s, the song London swings like a pendulum do, bobbies on bicycles two by two, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of Big Ben and the rosy red cheeks of the little children. Very 1960’s but it is hard to not sing it when you arrive in London and are of a certain age. After Hampton Court we travelled back to London to start our City sightseeing. The trains full of city slickers in black wool trench coats, mobiles clinging to their ears and fingers tapping out messages of great importance. What did we do before the days of mobile phones? There seems a definate north south divide, London does seem drowning in both money and developments. After disembarking we walked to Trafalgar Square the home of some impressive buildings and the Statue commemorating ... read more

I Wanna Go HOME! London, Day 2 Today, the 1st of October seemed fittingly fall-like here in London: moody skies playing tug-of-war between hues of grey with mists of rain and something more like the sunny blueness of Texas in March. We set off, all four of us, in the morning and the misty grey to see Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. We set off on foot. We set off without raincoats (except Phoenix). We set off in the mist that turned to rain and back to mist (again and again). We strolled slowly, about the pace that equals a two-year old’s gait, Susie holding one of Phoenix’s hands and I the other. Our walking routes today began along Park Lane and took us past fancy pants hotels, the Aston Martin, BMW, Porsche, and Audi dealers ... read more

It's amazing how quickly you get comfortable in a place. The lifestyle here, although there are differences from NZ, is pretty relaxed and easy to get into. Biggleswade, Bedforshire is a nice wee town with everything you need. The local pub has become our place to eat, cos the menu is really good.....we have been struggling with food here....nothing has salt!!! I had to add salt to my chips, my nachos were plain, the chicken and steak needs a bit of a boost too....I've decided I'm a sodium addict. One awesome discovery is free delivery! you can get fish and chips delivered (salt free.....but they do throw in baked beans...go figure?), indian delivered, pizza delivered, anything delivered for FREE! It can be very easy to get fat and lazy here I think, you don't even have ... read more
