New York to London I swear it will be the VERY LAST TIME that I get carried away with luggage. I seem to over estimate my hauling capabilities and the availability of skycaps and just get myself in trouble. From door to gate took exactly 3 hours. Would have taken longer if a nice gentleman at the airport hadn’t taken pity on me and hauled the bags to the check in counter bypassing the lines. I thought he was a skycap but it seems that he was just a Good Samaritan and would not take a tip. The security line itself took almost 45 minutes but once the bags were checked it was a smooth trip. Enjoyed a salad before boarding. It was a full flight and for some reason I was unable to get much ... read more

Hi everyone, We drove in to London today which took about 90 minutes. We went on the underground train which was really squishy. We did lots of walking and I think London is the best city in the world. :-D Journal Exerpt: An amazing thing happened that I saw Big Ben and the London Eye which is a big ferris wheel. Today I decided to go somewhere in which I didn't get to visit last time in London. The majestic Westminster Abby, home to the royal wedding for the newly weds Kate and William. It was beautiful, although I didn't go inside, only because I have seen my far share of Church's around Europe in the past, the intricate details of the outer structure was breath taking. I could only imagine what would have been going through Kate's mind the day of her wedding. Close by to Westminster Abby is Parliament house otherwise known as Big Ben. That in it's self is definitely on a mass scale. All the old buildings here in London are built with the same proportions BIG! Big but beautiful at the same time. I then caught the tube to Green Park which ... read more

First we went to Southbank, but there wasn't much of a crowd so we didn't stay because Mum wanted an atmosphere. So we followed the crowd to Trafalger Square, but we couldn't see the big screen, so we went to the outskirts of Trafalger Square, and we kept moving until we could see a glimpse of the screen. The crowd was so big, and everyone was struggling to see the screen, that people climbed on top of telephone boxes and on top of the bus shelters. And I could hardly see because I was short, so dad lifted me up on his shoulders, so I could see and take pictures. Mums pictures that shes got, I took. The crowd goes as far as you can see. Some people even got shopping baskets to stand on so ... read more

London: Thursday 24 – Friday 25 So I leave Salzburg at like 16.11 after like running to the train station. I had to book my hostel and Wicked tickets because I had just got my debit card the day before. It was crazy to book stuff right before leaving. So we go take the train and we arrive at the airport and the check in line for me was huge! But I got through fairly fast and realized that I had an hour till I could go to my plane. So I went to sleep and got on my plane and slept more. However the plane landed late and then the line to get through customs was so long it took over 2 hours! So by the time I got on the National Express to get ... read more

London: The University Budget Edition Hi all, I know what you are thinking “two blogs in one week, whatever did I do to deserve such joy.” Yes, it is true I am back to writing and updating people on my life here in England. This is the final tale from my pre-Christmas travels so after this update, all I need to do is write a long post about the various shenanigans that occurred in January and February. Back to the story. In early December I took a spectacular trip to London with my American friend Alissa. I know it is slightly sacrilegious to have made an American friend in England, but I did, so live with it. Early in October we discovered that one of our favorite bands – Vampire Weekend – was playing in London, ... read more

What to do for my Nan’s birthday? Let me tell you a little bit about my Nan first of all, she is an amazing woman and if there was a picture in the dictionary of ‘A Cockney Nan’ it would be her picture (if you’re not sure what a cockney is Google it or search youtube for ‘Catherine Tate Nan’ that IS my Nan!). In the past Nikki and I have taken my Nan to the theatre and other shows but my Nan doesn’t like people making too much of a fuss and is most content sat having a cup of tea & eating a cake so Nikki suggested tea at The Ritz. As we got near the entrance the staff could see my Nan had a walking stick and asked if she would like to ... read more

Today and yesterday were the first times that it has actually felt like I was in one of the greatest cities in the world, though I may be biased on that last part. Since we have arrived, we have been in orientation meeting after orientation meeting. The group that was in our place last semester had some issues with attending classes and internships. This lack of attendance could cause the company our program runs through to lose their license and essentially be shut down. So, to make up for this, they have instituted procedure after procedure that we must follow. Thank you Fall 2010 for making this difficult for us in Spring 2011. Though, thanks to them, our flats are pretty nice! (see picture 1 for the outside view of our flats) As the main problem ... read more

London: The Expensive Edition This blog update has been a long time in coming, and by that I mean that I am two almost three months late in writing this. (For some reason I want to try to write a gestation joke but it is not working so insert your own here.) Onto the story, and what a lovely one it is too! A long, long time ago I can still remember when my parents and grandparents came to visit the lovely land of England. They arrived in Heathrow on a Wednesday and spent two days exploring London: seeing the Crown Jewels at the Tower, visiting Churchill’s War Bunker, eating at nice restaurants etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I joined them on Friday after a long day of classes and arrived at the hotel at which they were ... read more
