21 May
Trip from Edinburgh to London was 4 1/2 hours....for us it seemed to go quickly maybe because there was only four stops, York, Darlington, Newcastle, Haymarket, kings cross. There wasn't a lot of scenery other than sheep, greenery or these yellow flowers, which I'm still trying to figure out..We arrived at Haymarket station and guess what I got confused and started walking the other way to get our bags....but that's not all...when Carmen figured out we were going the wrong way....we couldn't get our bags down...they were locked in lol.... We try getting people to open it for us but there was no one around...finally this guy and girl opened the damn thing....I told Carmen we should walk past the Harry porter station but she said it was just for nerds....well yes that's why 9 3/4 is so packed...nerds everywhere...We then took a taxi to our apartment....it's in a nice little street....apartment is cosy...one bed and its a double. It's ok if Carmen let's me go to sleep first I don't hear her snoring...and if she falls asleep ear plugs are good...if I snore..we'll I don't hear myself so all good...We walked around our surroundings and then found a
pub...an English pub....ordered beer...fish and chips....just like any good English would...the ginger beer with 4% alcohol was yummy....we walked further and found another pub.. 22 May After breakfast in our unit. We decided to tackle the train system. With help from a kind station attendant, we bought our Oyster card...I know weird name for a train card...made me think of the Oyster Bar from some movie...ok so Regents Park station all the way to Piccadilly circle. We then headed off for the hop on and hop off bus...a two day tour, we saw all the main attractions. Saw Trafalgar Square, London bridge, tower bridge, London eye, Thames River blah blah blah...we were diverted from the palace and if you had read the news you would know why? We were ok 😊We decided we had enough of the bus and headed off to the Covent Gardens. And what did we come across. Jamie Oliver restaurant...wasn't hard to decide that we needed to try it....it was awesome...see pics...After the Jamie meal we decided to do some window shopping and watch some pretty cool buskers. There was one guy that looked like a real statue and every time someone would walk past he would
tap their head and they would scream. Carmen and I laughed at everyone that got scared....I gave the guy some money for his entertainment...and he blew me a kiss and asked to call me....need I say more lol....Off we went to St James Park, sat in the chair quickly and took the photo before I had to pay....beach hair in the middle of the park....to tan....?..Buckingham palace was in our sites and a little squirrel came to greet us...it ran way. Carmen said don't touch it it has rabies...it can kill you.....ok Carmen...Buckingham palace was packed...apparently some garden tea was been had by the queen....everyone looked like they were coming out of Rose hill Races...We had a full day of walking and we ended the day with seeing the play. " the Book of Mormon" it was hilarious. ...Hold on Last stop the M&M world...four floors of M&Ms.... 23 May We were to wake up early...we keep snoozing for a bit more..We keep getting better at catching the train....this time we started to switch lines.....first stop Harrods....OMG....Their food halls are three times bigger than David Jones food halls ..first one meats, poultry and seafood....second market ....sweets, chocolates, biscuits, tea, third
market....bread, cakes, drinks, four market fresh fruit and veggies...anyway you get the picture...we had the best steak ever....it was awesome....you buy the steak from the butcher ..they cut it first and then they cook it in front of you... I think we might go back everyday now till we leave!!!! After going on for about 10 minutes on how good the steak was. We headed off to Kensington palace and to see Diana's memorial....sorry but I didn't think much of her memorial...she deserved much better.....We didn't do much....but it felt like we had walked miles....it must have been....the amount of times we kept getting told the bus goes from here. ...no here....no there....freaking hell and we could have got it in the first stop....or it was all the shopping we did...We rested our little feet then headed to eat tapas next door....IbericaAnd then back on the train to watch " a beautiful thing"...great play.. We thought we were so cool making our way there without any help but then happen to see that we had actually gone one station too far!!!! There was a station right next door to the theatre!! Don't worry... We'll be experts by the 5th day!!!By
the way a trick with the metro trains...try not to travel in peak hour....and inside the bars which you hold on to are the colours of the track lines.... Tomorrow is Carmen birthday ! Yay!
