We had heard from the English Heritage Magazine that Chiswick Garden had been restored. We decided to explore the garden on the Bank Holiday on 30 August 2010. As we had visited there last year, we remembered the route from Turnham Green. Upon arrival at Chiswick Garden, we followed the woodland walks and found the cafe and children's playground, which had been added on the park. We walked through the backyard of the house and sat down on the bank to the river. We had a picnic overlooking the river and cascade. There were many families with children and dogs playing with the water in the warm afternoon. The water was flowing down from the cascade and it looked stunning with the rock plants. Cones of the cedar trees have come out. We saw brown, cream, ... read more

I was not much of a tourist in London this trip - I was sadly, upon reflection, too preoccupied with the movement of the volcanic ash cloud across the UK. There was no plane action in the skies from the time I arrived until four nights later when, as my iPod randomly played Frank Sinatra's Come Fly with me, the first incoming flight passed over Peter's home in Chiswick! In the end, I was delayed just 24 hours! As a result, this blog entry will be short but sweet. So to the highlights of my short time in the English capital.....a lovely Saturday afternoon wandering about St James Park including lying on the grass and watching the world go by and then photographing the spring flowers (keep an eye out for my next blog)...... spending time ... read more

Chiswick House & Gardens There are several properties in London which are under the care of English Heritage. Chiswick House & Gardens is one of them. We decided to visit there on 4 May. Like when we go to Kew Gardens, we took the Piccadilly Line and transferred to the District Line for Richmond at Hammersmith. We got off at Turnham Green. Mark had checked the location and led me to Chiswick House and Gardens. There were a lot of elegant residential houses and stylish cafes and restaurants. We also noted the statue of Hogarth standing on the centre of High Street. We learnt that there is Hogarth's museum in the vicinity of Chiswick House. After walking for 15 minutes, we reached the entrance gate for Chiswick House and Gardens. A large part of the property ... read more

I'm soooooooo excited! This is my first entry of what I hope will be a never ending series of travel adventures! A bit about me: I'm British, a bit of a career girl I guess you could say, I live in London. I love to go out, I'm a great dancer, and I seem to end up getting into all kinds of trouble. I just love having crazy good times, and ask any one of my friends and they'll tell you the same! I now want crazy good times travelling. I guess that I'm a rich girl at heart, and I do have a great home. I'm used to luxury but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. I live for new experiences, I want to open my soul and let dreams take wing! What ... read more

London Day3 First off I am just going to ramble you don’t have to read any of it. Okay, let see, day three and the jet lag is mostly gone now, but I am still tired. The first day Bro. Steve picked me up at the airport and took to his house. As soon as I went threw the front door I was attacked by a mob of red heads and received a hug from each one, even the two year old who has never seen me. After bring in all the junk from the van, and talking to the kids for a few minutes I headed to London with a hand drawn map of the area that Lisa had made for me. From the house it’s about a ten minutes walk to the tube station. ... read more

What a day!!! We started out our first full day in London with one of the double decker bus tours. There was tons of traffic today as there was stuff going on with parliment. But we made our way slowly over towards the London Bridge, Tower Bridge, London Tower, Big Ben, The Eye over to Hyde Park and back to our start. That's a quick version on it as that wasn't the most memorable parts of our day!!. So we headed for lunch at Noodle Noodle and I was very suprised at the size of a Noodle Noodle bowl. After finishing that off we set off for Buckingham Palace, just in time to see the changing of the guard. After that we headed to Big Ben for the 5 pm chime. We stood there for a ... read more
