I really love christmas time here in Madrid, even though it use to snow sometimes but not always. No. its not like in Sweden, with snow for christmas time,:O) but nowadays you never use to know if it going to be a white christmas ore not. I remember when I was a little girl, remember so well the smell of our christmas tree, the smell of christmas food, the sound of music that was playing christmas songs and it use to snow outside the window... my family and I inside our house eating, laughing, talking... Ones in a while we use to look outside the window and it still snowing... A WHITE CHRISTMAS - Does it still exist? Madrid doesnt have a white christmas, I cant say that I have seen one, but the christmas feeling ... read more

I’m pretty sure that everything interesting about this island was already told as Tenerife is the best known and the most visited from the Canarian islands. On the other hand I am convinced that no matter how good narrator you are, words are not enough to describe the beauty and greatness of this island. I myself had read a lot about it, had seen lots and lots of pictures and felt prepared to meet Tenerife. Well, believe me, I was not! From the first day until the last one I lived in a continuous state of bewilderment, I was like a child left alone in a toys shop. You simply can not capture either in words or on photos the amazing beauty you find all over the island, no matter if this refers to the multi-coloured ... read more

Goed, waar waren we?

La Viñuela is a small village in the Axarquía mountains outside Velez Malaga. Although the modern vilage dates from the 16th century, when it was on the royal road between Granada and Velez, archeological evidence sugests that people have lived here perhaps since palaeolithic times. The surrounding ladscape is a breathtaking sweep of low mountains from which the sun bursts in the mornings. At sunset, the mountains almost seem to mourn the loss of the day's sun as they smoulder away like molten copper. I personify these hills because there is no other way to describe them. Standing in these mountains, you can feel your ancestors, you can feel the history of the place, the stories already told, and incomprehensible knowledge. In short, you can get a real sense of your insignificance in the grand scheme ... read more

A month already passed since we came back from Canary islands but I'm still dreaming of those amazing days spent there. We chosed to travel by ourselves, all reservations were done via internet, nothing organized by any tourism company. We studied a lot the travel Forums, made quite a serious research and we also found very useful the images on Google Earth so we knew exactly what we wanted to see, how to get to a specific place, how the roads looked. We left for Madrid by plane on the 10th of October early in the morning and arrived there by 12:00. As we had few hours until the connection for Gran Canaria, we decided to take the metro from Madrid airport and go to the center of the city (we changed it twice and it ... read more

Lanzarote Sunday 25th November After spending the morning tidying and ensuring our bag was packed we were ready when Colin picked us up at 11.30am. We had no problems checking in at Stansted and security was well organised and efficient. We killed a little time in the duty free before making our way to the lounge at the gate where we read the novels we had brought until it was time to board. A very bumpy landing ended our flight into a windy, rainy Lanzarote. On the way to the luggage Judy bumped into an old friend Ros Keep who had lived for several years in Perth before returning to England where she now manages a pub near Cambridge. They talked fourteen to the dozen but unfortunately Ros and her friend Mike were booked into an ... read more
