Please note we are 30 min from Honefoss but Brekkebygda is the area that the cottage is at. Woke and made myself down the rocks to the main cottage from our cabin. Saw Gry and Elly tacking up for a ride. It was a super hot morning. Made my coffee and tidied up the kitchen a bit. Sat in my favourite spot on the swing, over looking the mountains with the morning sun hitting my face. We packed up and head back to the lake at Krøderfjorden. There we met Andy and his bigger boat. We swam, Axel skied, we tuned and sat enjoying the beautiful weather. Had a snack at the dock area which was very nice then headed home to watch the lunar eclipse. It was a nice relaxing evening. We had left overs ... read more

Had a nice short flight on Icelandair to Oslo. Andy was there to meet us. We stopped in Honefoss on the way to Snarret, to Joan who is recovrring from a broken hip. Through the twisting bends of the road we made our way to the cottage. It was great seeeing it through Axels eyes. This is my 4th summer here but I was able to show him all the things I had been talking about over the last two years. Axel says my descriptions and photos don’t do justice! We spent the day enjoying the outside. We had cheese and breads for lunch, did a little ATVing and chatted. We enjoyed dinner alfresco and enjoyed the company and conversation. What would dinner be like however without Andy playing the horn. It was like it had ... read more

Woke up to sunshine coming through the window. carried on with the trip. Initially upwards across another mountain plateau. Was surprised to come across some reindeer wandering aimlessly and then had the privilege to see a herd crossing the road. Temp dropped to 6 at height but went up to 22 at times. carried on through Gul and stopped at park by lake less than an hour from Oslo.... read more

This morning I woke and stayed in my cabin for a bit while I packed. It was a rough night as the evening closed and I thought about leaving. I managed to fall asleep and woke early. I really love it here. Packed up my stuff with a lump in my throat. I have really grown attached to this family and my and my big brother. They all made me feel like one of them right from the beginning. This visit changes everything for me as far as my feelings. Well, enough mush ...... I wiped away the tears, put on a smile and headed down to the main cottage for my coffee. I was greeted instantly by Andreas. He came over to me and asked to be picked up. He wrapped his arms around my ... read more

Cooler today then the other days but still sunny with a refreshing breeze. Had breakfast then got ready to do some ATVing with Andy. Andy and I drove up the mountain on the ATV. Along the way he pointed out to me places he played as a child, where people he knew lived and where he and his parents would go swimming.he also showed me where they keept the soap! On our way up the mountain, I saw a number of moose tracks as well as droppings. Andy has a need for speed and he didn't hold back on the ATV. I wrapped my arms around his waist and held on tight. Wheeeee....... Ok I have to admit it loved it hahahaha At the top, we walked up a bit and took some photos. From there ... read more

Woke this morning around 8am and sat on the swing in the sun. I think I have to get up pretty early here to catch the sun coming up over the mountains. None the less it was a beautiful day to sit and drink my coffee while the horses played below me. Had grilled sandwich for breakfast then showered and dressed for the day. Gry and I ran into Hønefoss to do a bit of shopping. Hønefoss is a market place with long traditions where the Sentrumsbutikkene, the shops and restaurants are centrally located around the market Søndret. This looked a bit different from when we went before as people gathered in the market to visit at the little cafés and for the children to play on the play ground that sat in the midst of ... read more

Woke this morning to beautiful sunshine and horses grazing outside my window, quite literally, since Andy released one of the horses to graze when he left this morning at 6am to pick up Thea, Oscar and Edwin. I walked up to the house and was greet by Gry and a hare. It came hopping up right between me and the dog then hopped away. Apparently it was a baby hare. Gry tells me we have 30 min to get ready as Andy was going to be home with the other kids and we were going to the lake. Beep beep beep....as they arrive the kids gather to welcome one another then the packing begins...eleven people means 11 towels, 11 drinks, 11 snacks and all the other provisions necessary for tubing and skiing multiplied by 11. BANG! I woke to Anna and Andreas busting into my room "hello! good morning, we just came to wake you" I roll over and let them know I will be down :) yay today is the day I meet two more nieces and one nephew that I have only skyped with! I head down to the cottage but only Anna and Andreas are awake of the children. Anna made breakfast for everyone...... typical Norwegian breakfast laid out of cheeses, meats and breads to make open faced sandwiches. Soon Alexander came down and gave me a hug. He has a beautiful smile. Both very lovely kids. And so kind! We all gathered for breakfast (except Nancy) and chatted while eating breakfast. What were the plans for the day, who had to do what and so on. After ... read more
