Mum and I decided to sleep in rather than catch the early train so we had a leisurely breakfast and then after breakfast I went to go buy a bag that I really liked before we headed to the train station. Unfortunately I was a bit too optimistic about how easy it would be to do this. Nothing seemed to go right. First I didn´t take an umbrella (Big mistake!!) and then I got there 20 minutes before the shopping centre opened and then the sales girl of the particular shop I wanted arrived 15 mins late. I finally got the bag and then had to rush back in the pouring rain to meet mum at the hotel in time so that we didn´t miss the train (because they only came every 2 hours and it ... read more

We are now living in Cork city. We found a really nice apartment that overlooks the city and the river valley. Most of our time has been spent looking for jobs and trying to get our place set up. Unfortunately there is a recession going on and there aren't many jobs but we are hoping we can tough it out. Our place is in an area called Sunday's Well. There is an old prison down the road from us as well as a huge church. We also have a pub right across the road from us, we will go there to celebrate once we have jobs, hopefully soon! This weekend we want to go to Taste of Cork, maybe have some soda bread, or fresh fish.... read more

June 18 (Wednesday) - Fly from LAX to Dublin. Not a bad flight, but they did not have pay-per-view movies, cd selection or Guinness! None of us really slept during the trip. Also, Mom and Mike didn’t like the flight too much since they felt cramped in their seats. June 19 (Thursday) - Landed in Dublin and took a taxi to our hotel, Adams Trinity Hotel. The taxi driver, Freddy, was very nice and informative. He gave us his phone number in case we had any questions, but we never called him. The hotel was kind of run down, but not bad all-in-all. We walked around Temple Bar looking for a pub to have lunch in, eventually ending up at The Stag’s Head directly across from the hotel. After lunch, Mike, Mom and the kid’s went ... read more

Wow, what a trip. the good thing is, it doesn't feel old or tired yet. the scenery is so nice in the north west of ireland I kinda wish we'd come here a couple days ago, so to spend more time Justin's burger was indeed quite large.... He wrote that he wasn't allowed to get near the edge of the cliffs of moher.... hmmmm...... I suppose what he means is, he only was able to get six inches away, and lean over the edge and look down, and was not able to hang from the edge like he wanted to... oh well, i guess I'm getting too old to take risks. Tonight everything seems booked near the airport. I'd rather not go into belfast, even though i have the hang of driving now.... it just seems ... read more

Here we are in Donegal, Ireland, ancestral home of James Greer... We took the ferry from Holyhead, Wales to Dublin on Friday and spent the night in a very nice hotel. Saturday we took a bus tour down to Cork and Blarney Castle. Seeing the castle and kissing the Blarney Stone (I did; Dad declined) were pretty cool, but the tour itself... not so much. We decided no more tours for us; we're doing the rest of the sightseeing on our own. Sunday we chilled out for a while, planned the rest of the trip, and went to see Indiana Jones, which I quite enjoyed. Monday we left Dublin and drove througha very scenic countryside to the Cliffs of Moher. Dad wouldn't let me near the edge, but the cliffs were still impressively high and we ... read more

It seems the wind in Connemara & the Cliffs of Moher was too much, as I now have a major case of nose-leak and hurt-throat. I've been barely audible for a couple of days (you should (not) try out ordering food without any voice, it's kinda interesting), but I know my throat is getting better - now it only hurts when I cough or get out of breath. XD Yesterday I coughed up this incredible, sticky yellow slime that would not break. It was really some kind of alien-slime, I believe, that somehow landed in my throat from outer space. (Whaddaya mean too much info? XD) Anyhow, I booked a flight back home to next Monday. I like being abroad, but on the downside my sholders ache from carrying so much stuff around all the time. ... read more

Alright so where am I up to? Two days ago I arrived in Kilkenny, a lovely little town in the South East of Ireland possibly well known for having the same name as Guinness' lighter draught beer - but of course, when in Ireland, everyone just drinks Guinness anyway! Speaking of drinks, The Irish's favourite three drinks just happen to be my three favourite too!! Guinness, Milk and Lucozade - Seriously, if its not Black, White, or Orange - It just has no place here in the Emerald Isle. Anyway, of course when I arrived in Kilkenny, its was raining so much that had the rain fell in Melbourne, Stage 3A would be a thing of the past. I wandered across the street to lovely little pub called the Pumphouse after dinner to take in some ... read more

Today Mum and I had a lovely sleep-in, we went to the gym in the fitness centre and then had breakie. When we finally headed out we went to the information centre and booked accomodation for Galway. We then spent the rest of the morning looking at suitcases because of the London suitcase incident. We seriously spent hours doing this - Mum and her quick decision making. ;-) Finally we bought a suitcase then we went and dropped it back at the hotel. We also bought the train tickets to Galway. We then went and had lunch at the same place as the day before. As we were walking there it started pouring again. After lunch we looked at a few shops (you can never do too much window shopping!!) and then made our way back ... read more
