Mum and I decided to sleep in rather than catch the early train so we had a leisurely breakfast and then after breakfast I went to go buy a bag that I really liked before we headed to the train station. Unfortunately I was a bit too optimistic about how easy it would be to do this. Nothing seemed to go right. First I didnīt take an umbrella (Big mistake!!) and then I got there 20 minutes before the shopping centre opened and then the sales girl of the particular shop I wanted arrived 15 mins late. I finally got the bag and then had to rush back in the pouring rain to meet mum at the hotel in time so that we didnīt miss the train (because they only came every 2 hours and it was a 3 hour trip so we really couldnīt afford to miss it).
I was absolutely soaked by the time I got back to the hotel.
Mum and I caught a cab to the train and got on without any worries. The trip passed by really quickly as well and we were in Galway by 2pm. It was bucketing down there as well but luckily our hotel was very close to the station so we didnīt have to walk far.
We just dumped our bags and headed out to have a look around, braving the weather.
We walked through Eire Square (I think thatīs how you spell it) to the main street of the town. We passed a couple of the townīs landmarks and walked down to the restraunt strip where we grabbed lunch and I had my Baileyīs Irish Cream.
By the end of lunch it had cleared up a bit so we did a bit more exploring (by exploring I mean window shopping, of course).
Dave Comer rang back and invited us over to his mumīs. (For those who donīt know Dave is Mum and Dadīs business partner and he is Irish and most of his family lives in Galway.) Dave came and picked us up from the hotel with Seany and we went to his parentsī place and stayed there for a while - we met quite a few members of Daveīs family actually which was nice.
We then went out to a tapas restaurant with Dave, Adrienne, one of Daveīs sisters and a few others. It was delicious and a great evening. I had my first sip of Guinness as well!! Mum and I said goodbye at about 10:30 cos we had a 7am train to catch back to Dublin the next day.
