What a day we had! We started with an Irish breakfast, and then made our way to our music lessons. Our great instructer John showed us how to find the Irish beat on our drums! Mom found hers quickly and will be the drummer in the band. We were going to do 2 hours of drum, but John let us spend the second hour on the Tin Whistle. I've got the Irish tune on that, so I will be the wistle in the band... we will hold auditions for the other parts upon our return! After that fantastic time (and yes there are pictures!), we hopped on a tour bus to Guinness Storehouse. What a place! We each tested some Guinness (even mom!) and checked out the Dublin skyline from the Gravity Bar. We also got ... read more

The flight was long and the passport check point was quite long as well, but it was definitely worth the wait! So far, everyone I have met in the group is really nice and I can anticipate the rest of my time here with them will be great! Unfortunately I left my jacket unattended at my first pub--The Hairy Lemon--and it was taken along with my camera : ( so no pictures, but I have a couple of cameras so once the film is developed I will be sure to post. I had a great time meeting the locals who were absolutely hilarious and fun. Today we went to Trinity College which was beautiful and huge! Then on to the National Museum of Ireland and I saw a mummified person...gross. We also went to Christchurch which ... read more

Geo: 53.3441, -6.26749We left Rosmuck on Saturday and drove to Dublin in the rain. We were going to stop at a couple of sites, but decided that we needed to get to Dublin so we could get our Apt. and return the car. Good thing we didn't stop because when we got to our Apt. they moved us to another one a few miles away. Dublin traffic is horrible, but it was even worse because the gay pride parade was that day and they were marching right by our Apt. But good old TOMTOM got me right to the car rental place with minutes to spare before they closed. I had left Stacy and all of our luggage at the place we were supposed to stay. I took a cab back and picked her up. We ... read more

Sunday, June 22 Dublin How long can it rain? We got up to another wet day. We had an added feature this morning with high winds. It was gusting up to 50 mph. We had plans to check out of The Regency Hotel and move downtown to the B/W Royal Dublin Hotel early. But with this weather we decided to take our time. We did not want to do a ‘Dublin walking tour’ on a day like this. We finally left the hotel about 11:00am. We drove into town and found the parking garage for the hotel. Jackie tried but failed to find a way to get the door open so we drove around to the main street in Dublin, O’Connell Street. The only problem now was this is a busses and taxis only street. I ... read more

Mum and I spent the day walking around Dublin. But first we investigated how much it would cost to get to Galway. We then walked down to Henry Street (which is a major shopping street in Dublin). We didn´t buy anything but we spent a fair bit of time window shopping. We then went back to the Information Centre and booked a day trip to Belfast for Wednesday. We crossed the Liffey (a river in Dublin) and went to Trinity College. We then had some lunch, it was delicious. After lunch we went to Grafton Street which is the main shopping street (Mum and I definitely had clear priorities!!). At the end of the street is St Stephen´s Green - Mum and I walked around this park but we couldn´t linger because it started to rain. ... read more

Well we have arrived now in Dublin. Sorry for the delay in the blog, but there was no internet access on the Aran Island. In fact we didn't have power yesterday for about 8 hours. No worries though, the pubs were still open and the grocery store had a generator! The trip so far has been awesome and I am sure it will just get better as we continue on! So much has happened I don't know what to put on here... but one story is this: Mom and I were on a walk around the Aran island and we came upon a rooster...in the middle of the road....and asked ourselves....why does a rooster cross the road. (mom says: To get to the Guinness silly) Lisa says: to get to the local KFC type restaurant! As ... read more

Hi all, No photos (for obvious reasons) but just like to direct you to a link that will give you an idea of what Dave and I did last Saturday morning at 3am - it was the funniest thing I've ever done in my life. Bit and pieces everywhere!!! Freezing but soooooo funny and pretty fun. Dave woke up and sculled two beers to get some Dutch courage. The bloke next to Dave also couldn't wait to get his kit off. He was like Superman he was that quick taking it off (not that Dave dawdled when it came to taking his gear off either - he reckons he felt pressured in to it....yep right). Zoe hesitated a little bit but had to take her jox off as she looked like the odd one out in ... read more

Hey everyone....just thought I would add to the last post. Lisa and I headed out to find the Temple Bar district to have a celebratory drink for her dinner. She really wanted an Irish dinner on her birthday so we found Gallagher's Bar where she ordered Corned Beef and Cabbage. We toasted to her 30 years on this earth with a Murphy's and Bulmer's. There was traditional music playing and the place was packed. Temple Bar itself was packed so we will return tomorrow during the day when it won't be so busy with the tourist crowd. We did lots of walking around.....absolutely stunning old buildiings in Dublin. O'Connell street was so busy! The people here don't wait for the safe crossing light and just go....streets are going every which way with buses, cars, and motorcycles ... read more

I'm still in Galway... I was supposed to be here for only one or two nights, but this is already the fourth whole day. I might go to Cork today. Probably not. I already paid for the hostel, I dunno if I could get the money back. I might not even ask though; my throat is really sore & I got a cough from all the wind in Connemara the day before yesterday and Cliffs of Moher yesterday, and I don't really feel like carrying all my stuff anywhere. (I still have to carry it to this hostel from the other though. Well, it's only a short walk.) I didn't go to the little village near the Cliffs of Moher after all. I'm glad I didn't; 1 1/2 hours on the Cliffs is enough, what with ... read more
