Well Part One of Global Sorority has come to an end in Tipperary County. As of tomorrow would have taken nine flights, six very long car drives, 2 botabota's at night, one of which we were stopped by police at a road block, and a few long walks across dirt roads and farmlands in 21 days. Tia and I have finished our trip on her family’s organic farm. The weather has been a bit chilly with beautiful sun and sporadic clouds and showers. It’s such a great experience being on a farm and I wish I was able to experience a little more but it’s time to go home. At first it seemed a little odd for me to come this far not to experience all of Ireland or at least a little more but what ... read more

We hopped on the 9am bus from Cork to Cashel on a wet and miserable day. We were very excited to see this very popular Irish tourist attraction in County Tipperary so the rain wasnt going to ruin it for us! We arrived in the centre of town around 10.30-11am and decided we would go and see this amazing castle! We walked for about 5-10 minutes in the rain following the distant view of the Rock of Cashel. After a small hike up a small hill.. that felt like a big hill we were finally there! We paid our entry fees and ran through the rain into a small cinema room to watch a short 10 minute film about the history of the Rock of Cashel. Once the film was over and we had eaten our ... read more

Since our last posting we travelled along the southern coast spending a night along the road in Clonakilty. That evening we spent a night on the town. We found a great pub that had live music and great company. We made some friends with some Brits.....I was convinced one was Billy Idol :-) The music reminded us of home. Lots of folk/country sound, it was like being at Boundary Bay. The bartender wrote us a list of attractions and places to go before we left county cork/waterford. Therefore, the next day we drove to Kinsale, a small harbour town, and saw charles fort. It is one of the largest stone forts in Ireland. We spent last night in Dungarvan. Last night we both agreed that living in the camper is getting a little old and the ... read more

Wednesday, July 8- Killarney and Killarney National Park After breakfast, we walked to the Diseart exhibition in the convent of the Sisters of the Presentation. Their chapel has 12 stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke, a renowned Irish stained glass artist. It is the only church or chapel in the world to have more than 2 or 3. They are gorgeous- not only were the colors brilliant, but no single piece of glass was plain. They all were etched with some pattern or design; he must have been the “Tiffany” of religious stained glass windows. We returned to our room, packed the car and headed to Killarney. We stopped for a walk along a long strand of beach at Inch where they give surfing lessons and four wheel drives can drive on the hard sand. ... read more

Wednesday 10th June “Its a long way to Tipperary, its a long way to go............” Well that was the tour directors plan for today but first we had some administration to do like catching up on email and booking ahead for the next couple of nights after a second night at Limerick.Gretchens cold does appear to be improving except for the COUGH!! We thought the Information Centre would be a good start as they would know where an internet cafe was.The Travelodge we are staying in at Limerick has only been open 3 days and they haven’t yet sorted out their internet connections. Whoever heard of an Information Centre not having parking for people visiting it in a car??!!Well her in Limerick that is exactly what you get.We knew where the centre was and drove past it ... read more

Today we slept in a little before we joined the group for breakfast. It was very fun to wait for Natalie in the dining room as she is very sunny in the morning. We had our breakfast as Natalie hugged the cat figurine in the dining room. After breakfast we packed the car and then made our plans for the day. We decided to walk down as a group to see the baby lambs that Celia, our B&B owner, had adopted. Celia gave us four bottles of milk to feed them. We were all very excited to get to feed the lambs, especially Natalie. When we got to the pen, the lambs could tell we had the milk and they were fighting fiercely to get a spot. Natalie and Amy fed the littlest lamb and when ... read more

On Sunday, we got ourselves moving early in order to make it to 9am mass. We met Tommie and Bernie at mass and in true Irish style the mass was over very quickly. Tommie then proceeded to give us the town tour…. This included a stop at the Flynn & O’Dea Family graves, a walk down main street where the Flynn Family Butcher shop was and over to the park. Tommie is a great tour guide and we heard lots of stories about my grandfather when he lived here. After our tour, we headed to the B&B for a quick freshening up and then met back up with the whole crew for lunch at 1pm. We were again eating at the Templemore Arms Hotel, as that is the only joint in town. Lunch was delicious and ... read more

We woke a little later than normal today since we had a late night out in the Dublin pubs. We stayed at the Glenkeen house in Inchicore, just outside Dublin. This was a very lovely B&B, which is owned by a relative of someone we know from Syracuse. Glenkeen house is undergoing some kitchen renovations, so we stopped for breakfast at the Red Cow Inn. Our breakfast was lovely and just what the doctor ordered after a late night out. We got ourselves on the road to Templemore around 11am. The road from Dublin to Templemore was pretty good and we had a smooth ride most of the way. Once in Templemore, we headed in the general direction of the B&B and ended up on a back road when the hedgerows looked like they were going ... read more
