Well we have come around full circle. We decided to ditch the camper and opt for a hotel to spend our last night in. Don't get me wrong... the camper was great but after three weeks it was starting to get a little uncomfortable. Yesterday we found ourselfs back in Howth again. It was nice since we were familiar with the area and they let you park out on the pier for free. We are staying in a Hotel with a free airport shuttle so we can relax in a real bed with a real shower before our flight tomorrow morning. Ambers showew alone paid for the room if we had been using a coin drop shower at one of the camp grounds. We had no problems with the camper return. The dent in the ... read more

Last night we stayed outside of Cahir in an apple orchard...no joke! The campground is a family run establishment that also runs a cider press and apple farm. We pulled in and thought it was awfully quiet, it was closed. October 1st is the closing for many campgrounds in Ireland so we are adjusting plans accordingly. They luckily let us stay for the night and even gave us a free bottle of cider. It was really good, but gave us bad gas so the camper has some funk and we had to drive with all the windows open this morning. We are currently in Kilkenny. We found an open campground that is only a 15 min walk from town. We will stay two nights here and probably venture out to a town called Inistioge. It is ... read more

Since our last posting we travelled along the southern coast spending a night along the road in Clonakilty. That evening we spent a night on the town. We found a great pub that had live music and great company. We made some friends with some Brits.....I was convinced one was Billy Idol :-) The music reminded us of home. Lots of folk/country sound, it was like being at Boundary Bay. The bartender wrote us a list of attractions and places to go before we left county cork/waterford. Therefore, the next day we drove to Kinsale, a small harbour town, and saw charles fort. It is one of the largest stone forts in Ireland. We spent last night in Dungarvan. Last night we both agreed that living in the camper is getting a little old and the ... read more

Today we drove into the town of Killarney. Yesterday we drove the Ring of Kerry. We ventured off the main path and found some old castles and stone forts that had ben mentioned in a book we had. It was well worth it. We had each place to ourselves and didn't have to deal with any tour buses. We found a pull out spot along the road with an overlook of some cliffs and the beach to set up camp for the night. While there Scott got to play "medic morri" There were some people jumping of the clifs into the bay and one guy dove head first into shallow water landing on his head. Scott evaluated him and had an ambulance come out because he was pretty sure the guy had neck and/or spine fractures. ... read more

Well we have made to the town of Tralee, which is southwest of Limerick. We spent two nights in the town of Doolin. We rented bikes...again... and rode up to the cliffs of moher. The man explained 40 minutes up and less than 20 down. Man, was he right. The views were amazing. In our Morrison fashion we needed a little more than the views that could be reached by tour bus. We enquired at the tourist office about Hag's head which we had read about. She said the trail was closed and said " I'm not saying you can't do it, but I don't advise it; you may get arrested"....... So we jumped the fence and went on a 8mile trek to to Hag's head (the southern most point of the cliffs). This trail had ... read more

Yesterday we took the ferry from Galway to the Aran Islands.... The sea's were rolling and Amber was convinced we were gonna flip the boat. And by boat I mean a pretty goodsized ship. Don't worry we didn't capsize and we got our moneys worth for the ride. We landed on Inish Mor, the largest of the three island, and rented Mountaibn bikes... more rust buckets with front suspension but at least most of the gears worked. We only got rained on for about 5-10 minutes but then the sun came out and we dried off quickly. We rode up to Dun Aengus, an ancient fort atop a cliff face that drops at least 500 feet straight down into the Atlantic. After that we toured the most of the island by bike. We found a very ... read more

We finally found our first free WiFi.... not quite a coffee shop but a Cyber Pub! Totally comfortable with driving for the most part. Last nights campground was more like a Gypsy encampment so we hit the road early and have been touring the countryside. We are next heading to Connamerra and camping near the town of Clifden. Probably moving south tomorrow and maybe out to the Arran Islands. We will post photos but if it cuts out halfway through it is because we are on battery power. Answers to people FAQ's: #1) Yes Guinness tastes different- Smoother and Fresher... not to mention poured correctly! #2) The weather is very similar to home.. it is usually overcast in the morning and clears in the afternoon. On the western half of the island it is very similar ... read more

We have made our way over to the west coast. Spent a day with Bellingham friends in Howth, outside of Dublin. We had a great time including the taxi ride home which included the driver stumbling out of a pub and rocking out to techno music. Today we toured Ashford castle....amazing can't wait until we have internet to email out some pictures. Last night we stayed in cute little campground and I had to go searching for Scott at dinner time. He was chatting with the owner for almost an hour. The guy said ... read more

We spent the night on the beach in Rush. It was very peaceful on the north coast of the Irish Sea. We are headed to Howth today to meet up with Dave and Molly from Bellingham( owners of Uisce). Yesterday we went to Guinness and the temple bar district in Dublin. We are at an internet cafe right now and will post more when we get wi-fi elsewhere. Scott and Amber... read more
