You may or may not recall the song by Campbell and Ledbetter: Well, when I was a young man never been kissedI got to thinkin' it over how much I had missedSo I got me a girl and I kissed her and then, and thenOh, lordy, well I kissed 'er againBecause she had kisses sweeter than wineShe had, mmm, mmm, kisses sweeter than wine(Sweeter than wine)Well, it is time to discuss some sweet wines, perhaps you know them as dessert wines. Some can be consumed any time you want. Some are destined for th... read more

http://www.heygo.com 25th January Another visit to Budapest, this time with Adam and to the area of the Parliament Building. A couple of years ago we went on a Danube river cruise and I remember as we sailed into Budapest the sight of the beautiful Parliament Building was truly amazing and then in the evening seeing it all lit up was even more magical. I had been on another of Adam’s fours and remembered his he was so full of knowledge and had what he called micro stories to tell, interesting facts about Budapest that are not necessarily in any tourist book. We were on the Pest side, the skies were full of clouds ranging from white to menacing black ones which all added to the atmosphere as we started our journey. A very moving installation was ... read more

http://www.heygo.com 23rd January Our tour commenced at The Citadel in Budapest high above the city & the Danube River on top of Gellert Hill. To the left Buda and to the right Pest. The Citadel is a U-shaped 19th century fortress of about 220 metres long, 60 metres wide, and 4 metres tall, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site, the fortress was turned into a lookout tower / stronghold. We took in the magnificent views and then stopped at the Statue of Liberty, erected by the communists to celebrate Budapest’s liberation from the Nazi troops – and then its suppression by the Soviets? The strong female figure of the Statue of Liberty – characteristically of the Socialist-realist art – is also a woman of hard work and strong muscles rather than the Greek – Roman ... read more

14th January Our tour today was with Zsuzsi around the Heroes’ Square area of Budapest. The gateway to Budapest’s City Park, Heroes’ Square is a huge semicircular colonnade with 14 statues of men whose lives had major impacts on Hungary’s history. We learnt about about the different Magyars & Hungarian National leaders. There are altogether 7 kings, 7 chieftains and 7 statesmen immortalised in bronze. Not quite so historical but Michael Jackson used the monument for the opening of the video ‘History’ - The one with the gigantic King Kong sized statue of Michael that engulfed the archangel tops. We continued through the gateway and headed towards Vajdahuntyad Castle passing an area that in the Summer is a boating lake and in Winter an ice skating rink, although currently closed due to Covid. Vajdahuntyad Castle was ... read more

31/12 Budapest The area around Buda Castle was my 2nd tour of Budapest, this time with Adam. An interesting guy whose family history was that of architects who were responsible for much of the historic buildings around the area. We started at Alexander Palace, which currently serves as the Presidential Palace& then through the medieval streets of the castle's residential area. In particular it was interesting to hear that many of the homes in The Buda Castle hill neighbourhood are rented to low income families. It was sad to learn that many of the restaurants were now bankrupt due to the lack of tourists during the pandemic. It was rather cloudy but from the Fisherman’s bastion we had good views of Pest. The last time I was here it was a very hot day, the place ... read more

30/12 Budapest at Christmas We started our tour in the heart of Budapest on the banks of the Danube, across the water the Beautiful buildings looking very splendid all lit up. Zsuzsi, our guide, pointed out the famous chain bridge which I recalled when we visited Budapest a few years ago on a Danube river cruise. We stopped to view the exterior of the Vigado Concert Hall, The Vigadó Concert Hall is the second largest Concert Hall in Budapest, which was inaugurated in 1865. It was destroyed during World War II and was not re-opened until 1980. It has been wonderfully reconstructed as a Classical Building and Concert Venue. We continued to Vorosmarty Square, The most famous building on the square is the Gerbeaud-ház built in 1858-1862 in art Nouveau style. The first floor is the ... read more

Jedlo bolo v pohode, sklamali akurat povinne tringle v budapesti (ale zasa jedli sme len v tur.zonach) Prekvapili vlaky, kde skoro v kazdom bolo super rychle wifi, ic vlaky kvalitne, obycajne uz klasika slovenske pred generacnou vymenou. Ludia zvacia priatelsky, v ... read more

Check out, platba v eurach, smer bus stanica a keszthely, odtial chytame vlak smer Bélatelep. Tu vystupujeme len my. Ideme popri velmi peknom nabrezi popri balatonu az do dedinky fonyod. Je tu dost rybarov, niektory maju vybudovane lovecke lavicky priamo v jazere. Na jednu si sadame a relaxujeme. AK by nebolo super veterno, bolo by to tu idealne. Brrr Vo fonyode opat namesticko s restikami. Do ... read more

Celu noc prsalo a rano dazd pokracuje. Toto mesto ... read more

Nadherne slnecne ranko Klasicke sladke ranajky (kapucino, zakusok) vybavene v dobre vyzerajucej kaviarnicke Sissy Kávézó és Fagylaltozó pri bus stanici . Bohuzial ostalo iba pri dobrom vyzore, kava nic moc. Bus stanica je tu tragicka, oval, v ktorom strede je budova. Z jednej strany zastavky, z druhej tiez. No opat len cisla, tak clovek musel prejst vsetky aby zistil odkial to ide do keszthely. Prichadza lokalny bus co stoji i v meste. Vyskakujeme asi v strede mesta. Treba zmacknut tlacitko, inak bus nezastavi. Pochodujeme do Kastély parku. Tu je pekny kastiel, krasny velky, upraveny park a samozrejma fontana. Nechyba tu muzeum a ... read more
