Bonjour à tous, Aujourd'hui je me suis planté, dans mon de programme. Hier au soir j'ai mis un temps fou pour souper, je n'avais pas fini ma page d'écriture, (environ 2 à 3 par soir, avec les photos), j'étais décalé dans mon programme, avec 1 seule journée à Bratislava, pas d'hôtel pour ce soir, et surtout par fainéantise je n'ai pas voulu redescendre au garage chercher ma carte de Hongrie, et j'ai préparé ma journée avec celle de Slovaquie, où je n'avais pas l'est de la Hongrie. Mais je vais me récupérer autrement, Donc hier au soir la belle Nina, m'avait indiqué un restaurant où il serve des spécialités slovaque. Elle m'avait même écrit les noms, Bryndzdvé ou Halusky, heureusement, car dans ce resto, il ne parlait que le slovaque, et même sous la torture, c'est ... read more

Cuando nuestro tren se alejó de Francia, estaba emocionado de pasar los siguientes 3 días en Budapest, pero también me sentía un poco incómodo. No estaba muy seguro de qué esperar de la ciudad más grande de Hungría. ¿Sentiríamos alguna influencia soviética, persistente desde cuando Hungría estaba detrás del telón de acero? ¿O Budapest se sentiría similar a los países de Europa occidental a los que estábamos acostumbrados? On our first day of the river cruise we moored up at Solt which is in Hungary. We were driven over the Hungarian plains to a Horse Farm or Puszta Farm where we were given a glass of red wine and a piece of bread with pork fat and paprika on it! Not as bad as it sounds!. We were then treated to a show by the local horsemen who showed us their prowess with horses and whips. They also showed us the long horned grey cattle which are used for tilling the fields. We had a cart ride into the fields for a glass of apricot brandy and a bun and a tour round the stables where we saw close up the long horned sheep which were in the field nearby. Slow start, breakfast and then a bus to the Fine Arts Gallery. Then back to , the city station. Which is an amazing old building that I’m sure could tell many a story. Not the one I arrived at. Budapest has 2 very large stations of different eras. But both old to anyone from Australia. I love the way the Europeans called something ‘new’ that is still very old to us. For some things they say, ‘new old’. A lot of homeless/beggars are in this area. Every city I’ve been to has had it homeless people or beggars but some seem more hidden in their city that others. Budapest’s homeless people have been more obvious as I’ve wandered around. More beggars also. I’m not sure what that means or if there are more but that’s how ... read more

A perfect weather day so jumped in the bus and headed back over to Buda. Walked up to the Citadel with the stunning monument of the Symbol of Budapest. A woman with strength in her physical build and her stance holding up a large olive leave to symbolise future peace. A good walk uphill that delighted in the most magnificent views of 360 Budapest and right along the Danube which is the second longest river in Europe. Heading back down on the bus I stopped at the waterfall at Rudy’s Furdo and ended up walking a fair way up the stairs again. There is always that sense of curiosity that takes you much further than intended. But once again the views didn’t disappoint.
