We made it to Ios last night, and its as fantastic as everybody says. We got up yesterday at half 5 packed up and jumped on the metro. took that to the port town of pireaus and hustle our way onto a 7:30 ferry to ios. as we approuched the island after seven hours on the ferry, i noticed that we were going around the island on the wrong side. between my compass and my map i was able to determine which island was ios, and that we were in fact headed first to santorini and then back to ios, thus making or journey ten hours instead of the seven the woman in the travel office told us. Once of the ferry we found a bloke that was from the hotel we booked and he rode ... read more

Right now I am on the island of Ios. I have completely fallen in love with the Greek islands and think I might stay for an addiitonal six weeks. Perhaps I will sell seashells by the seashore (there was actually a job opening for that!) haha Anyway, two girls on my tour are thinking of staying too. I will make my decision today or tomorrow to postpone my flight home from Athens. Very exciting!!! ... read more

Hello! so, we are now into our final week, and the thought of coming home is not a pleasant one! obviously it will be nice to see everyone, but a british summer is not an appealing thought. anyway, what have been up to since i last added to this. Well we are now on Ios, which is certainly a lot more lively than folegandros, which, as great it was to see an fairly untouched island, didnt have a lot going on. Ios, on the other hand, has everything going on. we are staying at a b and b called hermes (although replacing one of the letters with a "p" might be a more appropriate name!), which is the cheapest place so far. this is good for the wallet, but not so good for kerry, who is ... read more

Well we've arrived in Ios 3 days ago. We had the EARLIEST start in Crete, but everything went smoothly and we landed in Ios at about 12.30. We were a bit worried about sorting out accomodation as we hadn't booked anywhere, but we really didn't have a problem! Within about 10 seconds of jumping off the boat, we were surrounded by people showing us their rooms to hire. We got a really good deal with one, paying only E22.50 per night for the both of us. The guy took us up to the Chora (which is the name for Ios town - and every other main town in the Cyclades!). Our first impressions of our acc was WOW simply because of the view! It was set up above the town, looking onto a classic Cycladic town ... read more

Well, now back to the purpose of this trip... to taste as many local beers throughout Europe as is possible in a 3 month trek ;) Ios, this is by far my favorite island of the 3 greek islands that we visited. With a much younger crowd, cheaper in everyway, beautiful soft beaches, an awesome hostel/resort and late night parties, you can't go wrong with Ios. We checked into a small 2 bed camping shelter at an awesome resort area called Far Out. Here we went swimming in the sea and pools, layed in the sun, went banana boating, drove a quad all over the island, visited Homer's tomb (some ancient philospher guy) and yes, nurtured many hangovers. The clubs had many specials on as the season was over and they were just getting rid of ... read more

Tired of our days of rest in Santorini, we voyaged to the backpacking / party isle of Ios. Where, true to its description, we partied and backpacked. Allow me to lead you through our days: wake up at 1pm. get frustrated that the captain remains asleep burn self at pool eat spaghetti take a nap go up in flames and make way to rehab dance and sing and drink repeat Drink of choice? Flaming Lamborghinis...approximately 4 or 5 a night, we reckon. Flames and Rehab remind me of Carrot Top the comedian. While not human, nor prop comics, the bars really seemed to focus on props in order to excite their patrons: Throwing napkins foam spraying from the ceiling at the climax of the umbrella song flourescent paint sporadicly lighting the bar on fire hiding vampigs ... read more

Michelle and I are in Ios, Greece and we might not leave. We stayed in Athens for a couple of days (Athens kinda sucks) then we came to Ios to meet up with my friend Jeannine. Ios is a small party island with beautiful beaches. Most of the "locals" are people from all over the world that come to live and work here for a season. We met an Australian girl named Tamara and she may be our soul mate. We have also been hanging out with some Aussies and some "locals" that work at our hostel. Our room is cheap and there is a pretty amazing view. I hope all is well in the US! Kisses, tati... read more
