Hi guys, So I arrived in IOS yesterday after an amazing time on Sanotirini. I hired a quad bike for two days there and cruised around with Jane and Anita and then with the Canadian girls (Diana, Carly & Carly) and Lucy and Mel (aus). We had a huge night out in Santorini...and yes there were toooo many shots to remember, bar dancing and all sorts of trouble! Great fun! Writing this I feel like HELL! Had my first night on Ios last night....home at 5:30......started at 4pm....gulp......We have scored the best hotel room with a baclony overlooking the beach....its so beautiful.....for 20Euros each....5 beds for 4 of us......huge....loving it! Have to decide whether I will stay here or go to mykonos....hmmmmmm Right, I'm off to walk two steps to the beach.....ahhhh life is HARD!... read more

I want to stay on Ios forever. I have met so many people who've come and stayed, it's unreal. Everyone comes to Far Out camping (where I had my own whitewashed thatched-roof hut) and they love it so much they find jobs working in town and just stay. Ios has a reputation for being a party island, and even though the season is just getting started it's still a lot of fun. Imagine an area with all of your friends from Australia, Canada, and Britain, and this neighbourhood has everyone waking up in the afternoon, going out on the 4-wheelers, sitting by the pool, swimming, laying on the beach, doing water sports, and generally being super friendly. When I boarded the overnight ferry headed to Ios, any romantic vision I had had of meeting independent budget travelers from around the world, exchanging stories over tea, and falling asleep with the smell of the Aegean in my hair, quickly was replaced with the harsh reality of a dirty boat crowded with cranky, dirty people. Although cabins are available, most people (and all students) purchase “deck seats.” People literally sleep on every surface of the ship—on all of the floor space and on any available bench, chair, or couch. I did not have a sleeping bag and could only imagine the amount of lice that would crawl in my hair if I slept on the floor, so I stayed awake for the entirety of the 9-hour ride to Ios.
