I'm currently visiting an ecovillage in central Denmark near the town of Hundstrup. Unfornately for me I believe (I can't be 100% sure) that I forgot my wallet on the bus when I switched busses about 2 km away from the town. Luckily for me I'm in the countryside so I will call the bus tomorrow and someone may have turned it in. Otherwise I will likely have to wait for a visa from Canada. Not to worry though, visa transactions have been stopped and at the most I lose around 200 in cash. It doesn't bother me all that much since I can just imagine losing the wallet in a much more precarious sitaution. In the ecovillage I simply work with my hands and pay absolutely nothing. I'm basically expense-free for the next two weeks. ... read more

Tonight is my last night with John and Ingrid. Tomorrow I will be taking the train to Svenborg and then the bus to Ubølle to visit and ecovillage north of this town. As for my time here, John and Ingrid have been just perfect hosts. They have fed me frikadela and rye bread up to my ears! I've never eaten so much in all my life. John took me to visit Ribe and the island of Rømø. He laughed when I was in Ribe because I went to the same bakery, ordered the same pastry and walked down the same street as Grandpa did when he was here. John was nice enough to show me his massive butterfly collection which I found very interesting. We spent lots of time with Trina and Peter and they were ... read more

Make the road your life I am new one this travelblog, and don't know what to start with. I am obsessed with travelling and it is like the road of life. It is a imaginary world you step into, and when you step out again everything is as it was at home before you left, except you. From every travel that is experienced, you grow, in a way that is never to be experienced otherwise. Travelling is amazing and a spice to the main dice: life. Without travelling I would be miserable, even that is sounds overreacted, it is not. That is why I will start my blog with Make the Road your life Louise.... read more

I just arrived in Denmark today and I have to say I'm fairly tired from the train trip. All in all I was on the train for 8 hours but John Mikkelsen was there to meet me at the station in Esbjerg which worked out just perfectly. This evening we had Trina and Peter over for dinner as well as Trina's husband Peter (I guess Peter is a fairly common name?). Tomorrow we will be going to a fairly medieval city nearby to do a small tour and then I will be going with John's son Peter to a pub in Esbjerg for a few beer and to see if those Danish blonde girls really do exist :) ! We also managed to dig up a few old photos of Grandma and Grandpa from their last ... read more

Our train from Brussels had to cross the Ocean to get to Denmark, so the enormous train drove onto an even bigger ferry and was driven across the water! This was very exciting at the time. Copenhagen is expensive!!!!!!!! The short bus ride from the main train station to our hostel cost $5(Aust)!! and a coffee or a tea in a cafe adds up to about $10. Ouch. So we walked everywhere and just drank tap water! We went on a walking tour (self guided!!) with our friend Farrin who is studying there and saw lots of nice old buildings and the changing of the guard at the royal palace. We also saw the statue of the little mermaid (little being the key word), the author of the story was Hans Christian Anderson and he was ... read more

Hi everyone! I just got back from a week in københavn(thats copenhagen). I drove there with my family saturday morning and arrived there 5 hours later. On the way there we stopped in Århus to pick up my big host brother from college. Århus is the second biggest city in Denmark, and a very nice place to visit also. When we got to københavn we met up with kara at the train station. The whole day we walked all over the city and saw everything there is to see. Towards late afternoon, we went to a restaurant to have drinks, it was located right on the river next to all of the colorful houses. After that kara showed us one of the BEST places to get ice cream, so we ended up eating a lot of ... read more

My baby turned five yesterday. Minnesota has a "golden birthday" tradition which simply means the birthday in which you turn your age on the date of your birth is special. So Jorgen turned five on October 5th, thus...he is golden! This tradition wasn't known to me growing up in South Dakota, but my kids are enjoying the idea of a "Golden Birthday". For the past year, Jorgen has spent his playtime primarily with Legos. The original lego toys were carved out of wood by a man in Denmark in the 1930's. Billund, Denmark is home to the original Lego land. Our destination for this golden birthday was obvious...after all, we're right next to Denmark. Well, not exactly "right next to". Our Denmark journey begins! Friday morning we left the house at 7 am, to catch the ... read more
