We were VERY tired, and I would not get up until Dad came over to my bed and yanked the window shades open and blinded me for about ten minutes. We got lost AGAIN today, with a bunch of awesome pictures and a new appreciation for people who live here. At least I do. They have to memorize this entire place?!? We walked around TOO much, and I literally felt as though I would collapse. Wobbly legs and vibrating feet. Not to mention I was tired from the morning, and a little hungry. We went to a classical orchestra. I was gonna fall asleep for the first 10 minutes, but once I woke up, it was very cool. While I forget the name, I liked the Russian one the best. It was the only that didn't sound ... read more

We spent some of the day in Brussels and hopped onto the plane. We then stopped off in Germany, and stayed there for a 2.5 hour stall time. And then went onto the plane to Czech Republic. Dad keeps calling it Czechoslovakia, and we keep correcting him. He's gotten used to the 'Republic' part now. I apologize for writing this late. We've been busy and tired. I also have to say I'm not going to do a 'Hopping Between' anymore, because I'm to tired to do it, and we didn't really do anything awesome that I remember. I also wanna say a big "HI~!" to Nanny and Grandpa Bob, who wrote an email to dad saying that they actually read my blogs. I'm very glad. I also want to say a "HELLO~!" to Grandma, Erin, and ... read more

People in Prague have some great, innovative ideas and execute them very well. For example, there are a lot of river boats that function as cruise boats, restaurants and hotels. But the other day I saw a boat dedicated to working out. The whole top level of the boat was filled with exercise bikes and it was blasting the Rocky song "Eye of the Tiger" which could be heard all the way down the river. There is a lot of competition for small businesses in Prague, so it's quite usual to see small businesses innovating and executing at a very high standard. The food court at the mall has both international chains and locally-owned businesses, but it is nothing like any food court I've seen in the US. One of the restaurants had a sushi conveyor ... read more

So, it was Prague day! After an extraordinarily exhausting week of working my butt off, I got up at 6 AM the next morning to meet everyone at the bus that would take us to Prague. It took about two hours, and the ride over was very beautiful- tons of hills and mountains and sandstone. We met Jamie at the bus/train station and started off towards Prague Castle, walking up the back entrance which was a lot of steps but really cool. The view was amazing! And, of course, we saw the window where the Defenestration of Prague happened which started a war, because pushing people out of windows is cool lmao. We saw two churches, St. George's and the Cathedral, which looked like Vegnagun from Final Fantasy X-2, I swear. We went through some of ... read more

Oh, our last day in Prague and really Europe, as tomorrow we will be riding the trains all day to Brussels. I wanted to shoot a couple of photos of the Estates Theater and just look at it again. We’d arranged to meet Dieter and Inge at the base of the bridge so we left a little early to see the Estates on our way across the bridge. We met up with Dieter and Inge and none of us really had an agenda for the day. We were walking along the river, something we hadn’t done before, looking for coffee when we got close to the train up the Petrin Hill. Since we’d never been on this hill before it seemed like a good idea. At the top of the hill is an observation tower, a ... read more

Dieter had to return to work after leaving Salzburg until noon today and then he and Inge were going to head our way so we anticipated an early evening rendezvous somewhere near the Charles Bridge around 6pm Just in front of our hotel is a square named Kafka after Franz Kafka, an influential writer from the early 1900’s. This square is very small but nevertheless it is a square, maybe the size of the lot of our home. Next to the square is the St. Nicholas Church built in 1735 and it is one corner of the Old Town Square. We decided several things yesterday: 1. We’d take Dieter & Inge to a concert tonight 2. We’d introduce Dieter and Inge to champagne and chocolates on the Charles Bridge and 3. We’d visit the Lobkowicz Palace ... read more

When I first visited Prague, maybe 8 or 9 years ago, I was with my friends Dieter and Inge. We did a walking tour of the old town, Stare Mesto. This area was originally laid out in about 800a.d. and some structures are still used which were built in the 13th and 14th centuries. Now I’ve been to the Middle East and our own Mesa Verde so ancient is something I’ve experienced before but I’ll never forget the 1st time I saw the Estates Theater just a short walk from the square. The Estates Theater was built in 1783 and is nearly all preserved in its original state, except for the wiring for electric lights and plumbing for modern flush toilets. This is the theater where Mozart opened Don Giovanni, conducting the opera himself and Paganini, ... read more
