Hi everyone,
My name is Cate and I am planning to travel by myself for about 3 wks to a month in May.
I have always wanted to visit Prague, so I will definitely go there, but I am not sure what other places in the proximity of Prague I should see. So I have two options:

1) to Visit other cities of Czech for the remainder of the trip
2) to cross the border and see other eastern European countries (Just so you know, I've never been to any part of eastern Europe)

It could easily be my last backpacking in my twenties cause I won't be able to go anywhere for next 6-7 years studying dentistry. So I really want to make a wise decision.

When you say you would prefer one option to the other, could you please also recommend the specific cities/countries?

Thank you! 😊

Hello Cat 😊

Here is a place that is on my list to go to. I like to get out of the cities and see village and country life.

U can get there by taking 2 trains from Prague.

I also recommend Krakow. A beautiful old place. U may have to go to Warsaw to catch a train to Krakow. Not sure if there is a direct connection from Prague. But I think the old part of Warsaw is well worth seeing.

I would say go to Romania because that is probably my favourite country in Eastern Europe but best not to spend your 3 weeks rushing around.

Hi Mell,
Thanks a lot for your reply!
Yeah, I was thinking about going to Krakow and Warsaw, too, because I've heard of many good things about those places. They must really be worth seeing. 😊

And Romania is your favorite in Easter Europe? Which part of Romania did you go? I've met only one Romanian in my life during my couchsurfing in Frankfurt, and she was such a nice person. Other than that, I have a very vague idea of that country.

I was in Romania Twice Cat. Once in 1989 a few months before the iron curtain came down. That time I was in Brasov and a few other towns. I cant remember their names. It was such a long time ago. I think one was Timisoara.
Last time I was there was around 10 years ago. I went to Bucharest, Sighisoara and Brasov. Personally I think Winter is the time to go to Romania. Transalvania looks so romantic covered in snow. I had to stick with the main train routes in Romania but if u are confident with driving there u could go to villages and out of the way places.
