July 18/19/20/21st brought Reggae Sumfest to Montego Bay. 2007 was the 15th anniversary and with Mary J Blige on the line up, it looked fairly decent. Montego Bay is only a 20 minute flight from Kingston so it's an easy weekend destination. The hotel had transfers from the airport so I was whisked away to the Half Moon in no time. Upon checking in, I worked the whole "it's my first time in Jamaica thing" and got an upgrade to a royal suite which was a mini-villa right at the beach! It had it's own pool and a piano, yay! Michelle was staying with me so when she arrived we had Chopsticks all evening and of course we had to ring everyone and play the piano down the phone. The hotel was beautiful, it's on 400 ... read more

So finally the long awaited travel has started.. Much planning (?) and now the results! We have had a very interesting and flavorful 5 days and are starting to unwind - but by no means to the full Jamaican level yet! Eljott a varva vart pillanat, amit oly sokat terveztunk?! Mit modjak eleg mozgalmas es valtozatos 5 nap van mogottunk. Kezdunk ellazulni, de azert meg nem a jamaikai szinten! It will come to no surprise to you all that people here are really cool, chilled out and relaxed. The typical Jamaican is exactly as you would picture - dreads, a big wide smile exposing a toothless grin, with clothes and a 'it'll get done in its own good time' attitude to match. 'Big respect to the whitey-tourists' they tell us - and they are very ... read more

Visited Countries Map We are now back from Jamaica and officially husband and wife. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and the trip was unbelievable. Negril is outstanding! Being that it was the off season, we pretty much had the beach to ourselves! These are the only photos that I have online right now, but I promise there will be many more! If any of you have pics please email them to us. We love you all!!!! Rachel and Sean Brown... read more

Well my little hobos, what stories i have to tell you this time! None too surprisingly, most of the interesting things that happen to me seem to have happened in Jamaica, and today was no exception. After a marathon, and I do mean marathon drinking session (finished about 5am but ONLY because the booze ran out) I picked myself off of the floor (yes nicky it happened again!), staggered back to my cabin and lay very still on the bed. At least now I have an excuse for the room spinning... Im on a ship so it MUST be the ship and not me thats drunk. anyhoo, what seemed like 10 seconds later (actually 5 hours) I get a phonecall from my crazy Polish buddy from down the hall reminding me that we were going to ... read more

Hello all OK so we're not exactly travelling through South East Asia this time but thought we'd drop you a few lines to say hello as the blog was welcomed before (and of course we can't be bothered to write any postcards while we're taking it easy!) So, we've been in Jamaica for a few days now and it's absolutely fab - just what we both hoped for...... rum, reggae and relax (they call it the 3 R's here). The weather is perfect, blazing hot sun everyday, with clear blue sea and long beaches. The hotel is fantastic, with a dozen or so bars and restaurants to choose from, an army of staff who seem to want to do anything to make you smile, and as much food and drink as you can possibly enjoy. ... read more

We stopped of in Jamaica today. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Rather bloody good because there was a huuuuge crew party last night with dodgy Engineer types from Indonesia cooking non descript meaqt for us. And, more importantly, there was beer. Lots of beer. beer beer beery beer. So fortunately I had the next day off until the afternoon. After dragging myself out of bed at 11 ( a blessed lie in as far as i was concerned) I decied to check out the origonal island in the sun for the short couple of hour I had before the boat left. We got ashore and after wh fought through the multitude of Rastas offering rides in their "taxis" we wandered along the caost. Ocha Rios is on the other side of Jamaica from the touristy bits - it takes about ... read more

Hey everybody JAMAICA NICE!!!!!! I'm really loving my time here. I came to Jamaica last minute with my friend Emily to meet her boyfriend and his family. I arrived Dec. 29th. I was supposed to leave Jan. 24th and again I was supposed to leave Mar. 6th, and I'm still here. The next departure date is the end of this month and I will be on that plane, I promise mom and dad. So I am staying with a very big family in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. It is only 24 miles to Kingston but about an hour and a half drive up winding roads to the top of the mountains to an area called Section, this is where I am staying. The family is so wonderful, kind and nice. Very welcoming, they are probally ... read more

Roni's World Tour 2007 "Respec' - 'dats what we say here, in Jamaica, maan!!!..." ...where do I begin!?!? Jamaica proved to be a WHIRLWIND of a four-day adventure, complete with lots of good food, dancing, adventuring (if that's a word), and OF COURSE, a beautiful wedding to cap it off!!!... ...but I guess the best place to begin is....well...the beginning!!! So Mona and I set out BUTT-ASS early on Friday morning, for a full-day's worth of traveling. We made it to JFK and endured one of the most BASS-ACKWARDS check-in / boarding sequences known to man!!! So here's how it goes... FIRST, you get in line (slash - don't get in line AT ALL, but rather push your way to an open check-in kiosk), check in and get your boarding passes.... NEXT, you get in another, ... read more
