So finally the long awaited travel has started.. Much planning (?) and now the results! We have had a very interesting and flavorful 5 days and are starting to unwind - but by no means to the full Jamaican level yet!

Eljott a varva vart pillanat, amit oly sokat terveztunk?!

It will come to no surprise to you all that people here are really cool, chilled out and relaxed. The typical Jamaican is exactly as you would picture - dreads, a big wide smile exposing a toothless grin, with clothes and a 'it'll get done in its own good time' attitude to match. 'Big respect to the whitey-tourists' they tell us - and they are very friendly, but still they charge us time and a half the local rate to buy things. Half respect anyway!

A tipikus jamaikai eppen olyan amilyennek elkepzeled.

Since arriving we have been getting a good number of km's under our belt - in fact we have traveled from Kingston in the south to Negril on the west coast in an anticlockwise direction all along the coastline. The transportation here is cost effective, without delays, friendly and intimate (not a typical characteristic of transport, but 20 people and 2 BIG bags in a 15 place minibus is really cozy!). I feel quite stupid - I almost asked the driver at the start of out trip if it was duel carriageway of motorway around the island - actually its 1/2 lanes of GPrix twisty roads with pot holes like moon craters. Nice. But catching a ride is made dead easy, as it seems like every Jamaican is a taxi driver - no problem of car sharing over here!

After the few days we have spent here we can't claim to know Jamaica - not by far, but we do have ideas of our own and from the locals about the hot spots.. We started out in the Blue Mts next to Kingston which was a great 'false start' to the trip - really relaxing with great friendly people and beautiful nature. To see the humming birds in the wild like I am used to seeing blackbirds was unexpected.

Az elmult nehany napban szereztunk nemi ismeretet az orszag lakoirol es kulonbozo tajairol. Turankat a Blue Mountains-ben (Kek hegyseg) kezdtuk, Kingston mellett, ami jo kezdesnek bizonyult. Az emeberek baratsagosak, a csokitorta fantasztikus es a kolibrik ugy repkednek korulotted, mint a verebek otthon.

Then you have the Portland area. We didn't have much time traveling through but it seems less developed with less tourists and with some nice coastline - especially the Blue lagoon, a great place to recover from a bumpy car ride.

Aztan kovetkezett Portland megye?, ami kevesbe fejlett, lattunk igazan lerobbant lako negyedeket, kevesebb turista, de a Kek laguna, valami csodalatos elmeny es teljesen feledteti veled a hosszu uton elszenvedett bukkanok altal okozott seruleseket.

And last but not least the famed beach resort of Negril. 9 miles of white sandy beach with the hot water we all hope for on our holidays (both sea and shower!!).

So we will do our best to continue enjoying these harsh conditions, and showing some whitey respect to these locals in an attempt to get even cheaper drinks!

Egyenlore ennyi, kuzdunk a nehezsegekkel es az arakkal!

This blog will be a story of a Hungarian lass and an English bloke who met at a wedding, spent 100 days (in 1 ½ years) together, and decided to throw it all in and go for the next BIG ADVENTURE! During the next 8 months we are desperately in need of trading in the infinite working hours/days/weeks, for something all-together more exotic, challenging, inspiring, exciting and gratifying; in one word - renewing. We can’t wait to ‘look out of our heads’ at all those crazy people in the world, and think gratefully ‘thank God that’s no longer us!!!’.... full info
