In Costa Rica herrscht Ausnahmezustand.

... read more

The journey to San Jose was a rather long and boring affair consisting of badly dubbed movies played too loud, overly cold air conditioning (something that was becoming rather normal now) and another strange border town. Sarah wasn´t quite 100% either so her journey was even worse than mine! We crossed into Costa Rica without problem but with plenty of useless delay...an arbitrary bag search consisting of digging the bags out of the coach, hauling them across to the customs table, waiting around for half an hour for a not very offical looking chap to come and look at 10 partially opened bags before saying all was fine and we could get back on. As was the norm for border crossings you have 2 stops - the exit part of Nicaragua and the entry part of ... read more

I got to go to Costa Rica last week for another workshop, but this time I wasn’t able to stay and be a tourist due to late scheduling, other commitments, etc. So for trips like this one, I like to think of it as a way to get an overview of a place, talk to some locals, and figure out what I will do in the future when I come back there for a vacation. With Costa Rica, that is definitely a “when” I go back, not an “if.” The people were fantastic! So friendly and helpful. What more can a tourist ask for? Even in the rainy season and stuck in the capital city, the natural beauty of this land is easy to see. My first thought driving out of the airport was GREEN. Every ... read more

Wow, Sorry it has been so long since the last entry. So since the last time I did an entry, I reduced my credits I'm taking to only 13 credits while in Costa Rica. I wanted to have time to really experience the country and not have to worry about homework when I dont get credits towards my major with most classes. It's pretty amazing because even though I have 13 credits it's still a lot of homework (seems like 16 credits). Also I rehearsed with the choir again (three times in 3 weeks we usually rehearse twice a week but they were protesting last week). The rehearsals are upwards of 3-4 hours a day. Friday I rehearsed from 5pm-9pm and Saturday I rehearsed from 8:30 am to 11:45pm. It doesnt seem like it is that ... read more

We landed down in San Jose town with some what of a thud. Its as manic and crazy as you would expect when you step foot out of the airport and the taxi ride left us clinging onto our lives as well as our seats. The main word we used to describe San Jose was 'dirty' and thats in the kindest way. But it is by far the starting off point for some of the most beautiful scenery Costa Rica has to offer. So we spent our two evenings here relaxing and reenergising for what was to come...... read more

To be sincere Costa Rica is a nice country, a paradise for lot of people and overseas visitants. But before to travel or debate to live in a country out of ur homecountry, you must to know culture, some about its language, the nice side and of course, the bad site of the country current situation.... i got some examples about the "bad site" of Costa Rica as natural atractive country: 1. ILLEGAL INMIGRANT PEOPLE: Many people comes here without right documents, they comes as visitants and turist, but the reality is more than turists, comes to "stablish" bussines without work permissions from the general migration bureau of costa rica, to "hang up" unscrupulous bussines, showing only "the passport" but not work permissions. Costa Rica is the perfect point for some "inmigrants" to stablish bussines like ... read more

I am here! Finally got to San Jose after about 12 hours of planes and airports... I was on schedule, left Phoenix on time and everything, but an hour into my flight they said there was something wrong with the cabin pressure and so they turned us around and took us back to Phoenix. When we got to Phoenix, they supposedly had a plane ready to go for us. Not so much. They did have a plane, sitting on the tarmac in the 116 degree heat, which they corralled us into almost immediately (after generously offering us water and a "snack box" for our trouble). Only problem, they still needed to fuel, inspect, and likely paint the damn plane. Instead of leaving "right away" we sat in the hot plane for over an hour while they ... read more
