Me and my girlfriend are going to Costa rica in December/January. Where do we go? Where do we stay?

Me and my girlfriend (32 Years/26 years) are going on vacation in costa rica in december and january. We want to experience a little bit of everything. Beaches, national parks. She is the active one. I enjoy relaxing :)

We want christmas eve to be in a nice place and new years eve would be nice to spend with others, partying.

So if anybody can give us any pointers on where to stay, where to go etc.. that would be really nice

Thanks

You will be coming during a very busy time of year, you really need to start finalizing your hotel reservations because during this time there is a shortage. Most of the hotel owners I know here (former hotel owner myself in CR) are already full Christmas week.

Where to go really depends on how long of a trip you have in mind. For instance 1 week is 2 locations, 10 days 3 locations, etc... For all out party Jaco or Tamarindo are the beach towns you should consider. Tamarindo has a better reputation than Jaco and rightfully so.

A few days at Arenal Volcano to relax in the hot springs and enjoy some of the best canopy tours and adventures in the country is a great way to start a trip here followed by beach time.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions.

We were there last Holiday season and fell in LOVE with Cahuita...lucked out and stumbled upon El Encanto B&B for a few days. Christmas and New Years is really the only time you should pre-book...oh, and Easter. Have fun!! Reply to this

There are various hotels, lodges and inns that are available to the people visiting to Costa Rica. However, during Christmas, it is nearly impossible to stay there if you don't have any advance booking. You can have all good experiences of your life by visiting national parks, beaches and all exciting places. Enjoy the vacations to the best. :) Reply to this

I've heard much better things about Jaco from the people who live there...from natives myself, I hear that Tamarindo is dirty and not the nicest beach. If you are looking for a beautiful national park, I would suggest Manuel Antonio/Quepos area-- it is absolutely beautiful! I went there this July and I LOVED it! Reply to this
