After Spending some time in Thailand, witch I found too touristy for my opinion, It was great to set foot in this 'unspoiled country' By slowboat I took 2 days to reach the first City in Laos, we started in the north of Thailand and arrived in Luang Prabang. Not much Highlights in laos, but is just the overall atmosthere, the feeling that you get beeing among the people there. Different style of tourism, that atracted me. Small guesthouses with unbelievable frienly hosts. In this country you get the feeling that there is no time...why hurry enjoy the moment and you [View Full Entry]

Thailand.....Nice Holiday destination. Beaches is not so my thing. I just can't lay on the beach all day, but luckily you can be active in Thailand as well. Krabi (thon nai pan) is the most beautiful place where I tried to do some rockclimbing. Then I went to Ko Pha-Ngan were I relaxed a couple of days and then went Up North (I didn't stay for the full moon party, NO) Bankok is a crazy city with its Tuktuksdrivers who risks their lives (and yours) racing the streets there. I loved Chang Mai in the North better from which I started [View Full Entry]

Culture shock...Borneo is a bit different than Australia and New Zealand. People staring at you, because I'm white and blond...Get jammed in a Minivan with 15 malaysians....who ofcourse can't speak a word English. But smiling always works I found out. I arrived at Kota Kinabalu, where I played a nice soccergame with some locals. Then I took a bus to Mount Kinabalu nat. Park, where I met Andrew a very fit Canadian guy. Together we hired a guide and started our two day climb. The top of the jungle was cold but rewarding. Then I went to Uncla Tan's, A jungle [View Full Entry]

Who doesn't want to be in New Zealand in its beautiful summer??? I planned my trip to Australia, New Zealand and South-East Azia that I would be in the summer in the Land with so many beautiful faces. What happened?? It rained and it rained and it kept on raining, butt it was still an awesome trip even when you're camping like I did. I started in Auckland bought a car for about 500 Dollar (we'll see how far it takes me, cheaper than a bus ticket and most importand it gives a lot of freedom). I travelled about a month [View Full Entry]

playing guitar, at one of our free camp spots

In September 2003 I started travelling with a friend of mine. By car we drove around Australia in about 5 Months. Free-camping in National Parks, Surfing the Coast and Hiking in the Australian mountains. Car troubles in the middle of the outback were we got stuck for 5 days (a real Australian experience) The Best I liked West Australia with its beautiful nature and it's less touristy atmosphere!
