Floods in HondurasFirst we didn't know why we could't take a bus to La Ceiba...but from the plain it became clear that the rain had done mayor damage to the land in Honduras.....
What I seen in Honduras so far was impressive, but not really in a positive way.
After visiting the ruins of Copan I made my way to the Bay Islands. It would be a 2 day trip, but just 15 minutes before we left, we heard that a bridge had collapsed wich we had to cross on our second day. It had been raining for 8 days, due to the huricane Gamma. A lot of rivers were flooded, roads where unpassable..so we were stuck in San Pedro Zula. We looked for other options so we deceded to fly to La Ceiba from were we could take a boat to the Islands. Our flight was supposed to go in the afternoon, but at 19.00 we were told to find a hotel and try it the next morning at 6.00. The next day we had to wait till 11 but then we finaly flew. When we made it to the airport, we heard that the boats to the islands had not been running for 4 days....so flying again was the only option.
But after 4 ours of waiting we heard that day would'n be flying anymore this day............luckily for us we found the
the plane that made our day!!After waiting for 2 days at different airports we finaly managed to get a flight to Utila. We were so lucky that we were one of the few people that made it to the island, because boats weren't running
... [more]man we needed to find. He was a pilot with a small plane 3 seater, and since I was traveling with a dutch couple for some days, it was perfect for us....
Finaly on the Utila the beer tasted great!!!

Hoi matthijn!
Take care,
