I would like to give a shoutout to Iriana because I feel as though she participates every time we go into class. She also contributes valuable discussion points and questions when participating in class. I would also like to give a shout out to jhonatan because he is usually very shy in class and doesn't speak, however, when he does participate he says valuable things to the class discussion. The last person I would like to give a shoutout too is rubi because she is always helping me in history class as well as several other classes. She is always a helpful resource when I am struggling because she usually knows what she is doing.... read more

I believe in America's pastime. For most people baseball can be the most boring sport, and like most people I believe the same thing. If you aren't a pitcher or catcher there can be games where you don't touch the ball one time, but it's those times that you do touch the ball that make the waiting worth while. I am currently a high school senior and I have been playing baseball for quiet a while now, and have never heard someone say baseball was boring until I made the team my freshman year. At one of the first baseball practices we had as a team my freshman year my coach said, " baseball is the most boring sport" I was confused and thought he was lying but had never realized the truth behind it. Baseball ... read more

In the article, "Afghans rail against civilian troops after civilians killed" it spoke about the recent incident of the american solider who allegedly killed 16 innocent civilians in their homes in Afghanistan. Since the issue is on going no name was released for the solider who allegedly killed the innocent people. It was said to have happened on the soldiers 3rd tour of iraq and Afghanistan. This incident has rallied up the people of the village in which it happened and now plans of counter attack are being discussed. Happening shortly after the American troops burned the Quran, this attack added fuel to the fire and the Taliban is now speaking about getting revenge on the American troops. The Obama administration and other American forces are trying to respond peacefully to this events insuring it was ... read more

In the article, Lincoln's Legacy Fights Modern Slavery, it says that the difference among modern and earlier forms of slavery is that there are no plantations, slave cabins, and auction blocks. However the abuse and manipulation are still present. This movement to raise awareness about human trafficking connect with the legacy of president Lincoln because when he was president he created the emancipation proclamation stating, which stated the slavery was no longer allowed. Shortly after his emancipation proclamation the thirteenth amendment was issued and this banned slavery. The Polaris project is a movement to try to raise awareness and help people that are being abused and reporting any sign of trafficking among the communities. I believe this project is good because like the emancipation proclamation it brings hope to the people who are being abused. This ... read more

some of the reason certain books are banned from school is that because of the controversial issues they speak about. Some of these issues are sex, profanity and racism. although I believe that these three topics are very controversial I don't think the should be banned and non accessible to young people in schools. I believe that being able to read these topics allows students to think for themselves instead of having to rely on other people for information on these topics. Restricting these young people from topics like these creates ignorance amount the young people in school. I believe parents pressure teachers on what they are allowing their child to read. Parents want to be able to dictate what their children see and hear, and because they are the parents they want to be able ... read more

Charlie Friend 15-25 Within these ten years I went to high school and than lived on my own for college. Throughout high school and College I had a hard time with alcohol and eventually dropped out of school. I had a hard time coming Home after dropping out because my parents didn't want me to be at home not working or going to school.Up until 21 I played baseball. Other than that I really didn't do much besides hang out with friends and go to parties. I really wish I would have learned to play some type of musical instrument because I love music. Within the last ten years the economy crashed, we have had our first black president, the war in Iraq and afghanistan, 9/11, rise in technology. I think the biggest turning point for ... read more

No I don't believe castiglione's ideal man because he seems to perfect. Everyone should have some type of weakness or else the men with these perfect qualities would create some type of upper class and they would rule over the men without these qualities. I think a man that has faults helps them become a better person and leader because they know where to improve upon to make things better. I also don't believe there are men that exist like that today or that they will ever exist. I think the definition of a perfect man changes for everyone depending upon their class in the economy. I believe that he wanted men to act this way because of what had just occurred throughout the world. The black plague made him think that men that where more ... read more

One mountain I think I have overcame throughout my time here at uiccp was getting that 21 on the ACT. I think I over came that mountain because of how much time and effort I out into improving my score. When taking the practice ACT I scored a 19 three times and wen the actual ACT came I scored that 21. I felt accomplished and relieved that my hard work had payed off. I think the support I received from my family, friends, and especially the school made me accomplish my goal. I think my final mountain here at UICCP would be me finishing the year strong and not giving up. When thinking about my final semester I start to see how close i am to finishing my high school career and I want to just ... read more

Now that the first semester is done I think I enjoyed learning about the roman empire and how it came to rise and fall. This was the most interesting topic for me because throughout all of history this part seems to have the most betrayal and blood shed within their own government. I think the most difficult part for me was being able to look at the big picture of all the historical events. Knowing the dates for all that happened is what confuses me the most because I tend to think one event happens right after another but there are certain events that are happening at the same time just in different parts of the world. A specific project I found to be difficult was the silk road project because not only did I have ... read more

Picture 45 shows a little boy giving a U.S Army solider a high five. I think this picture is significant because it shows that we are not fighting this war alone but the people of other countries support what we are doing to try and better the world. Picture 22 shows a picture of the blizzard we had here in Chicago and the impact it had on lake shore drive. When I seen this picture I remembered those couple of days we had off from school and wished it would happen again this year. Picture 21 shows a young boy looking at a small figure of Steve jobs at an apple store in hong kong. This picture is significant because it shows the long lasting effect of Steve jobs and his inventions on young people for ... read more
