The Grand Canyon was definitely a trip worthwhile. I enjoyed my time there. However, it was time to keep heading west.....California! First I landed in Anaheim, where I visited my life long friend, Jaime. When I got there we realized that we haven't seen each other in almost three years! WTF?! Can't believe time escaped us that fast. Anyway, I made it here and was glad to see my good friend again. We started off the day with a trip to a Major Leage Baseball game....Angels vs. none other than the Texas Rangers. I'm not really a Rangers fan, it just happened that they played while I was visiting. Anyway, the game was cool. Got good seats and drank plenty of expensive beer. Now, let me be clear. The beer was not high quality beer, the ... read more

After my family and I went our separate ways after Carlsbad, I kept on heading west to visit one of the most impressive natural marvels in the world, the Grand Canyon. I've never been there. Traveling through the Americas I visited plenty of national parks. During these experiences I realized that I really haven't visited any national parks in the United States. Why??? No clue. I guess I just took them for granted that they would always be there and someday.....someday I would visited them. Well, making my way back home I decided that it was time I appreciated some things that are within my own country. I decided to camp out for a few days at the Canyon, so I packed my blanket and tent. I took the Greyhound from El Paso to Flagstaff. There's ... read more

It has been 4 years since our last family roadtrip. In 2005 we traveled to Mexico in a 15 passenger van. We nearly killed each other. 7 kids, three drunks, and driving in Mexico. Not a great mix at the time, but regardless, it was a good trip. This time around was entirely different and way better. We decided to visit our younger brother, Jaime, and his family in Silver City, New Mexico. For most of us, it has been more than 2 years since we've last seen our brother and his family. So, we felt it was time we all jump in the vehicles and drive to New Mexico. We were not able to rent a 15 passenger van this time, none were available. We rented a smaller van and ended up driving in two ... read more

After a year of traveling, a year of self-exploration, and many adventures, it was finally time to come home. Texas, U.S. of A. Such a great feeling to be back!! I missed my family so much, my friends, and especially my little buddy, Pepe (my winnie dog). First stop was Austin, TX. My home for the last 10 years before leaving on my Latino America tour. Since I no longer have a home there, my friends hooked me up with a place to stay. They took care of me. Thanks guys!! I met my ex-coworker and friend, Jason out to lunch. We had us some good ol' Texas bar-b-que at Ironworks. It was as delicious as I remembered it. Got to visit my old job and see some more ex-coworkers. They were a little shocked to ... read more

Who would have thought? Not me. I had no idea what Nicaragua had to offer. This country really surprised me. I didn't travel through the country extensively, but the things I did get to see were beautiful. I managed to catch up with my friend Elijah (from San Fran) in Granada, Nicaragua. He has friends who live in the town, so he ended up kicking it in Granada for three weeks. He was traveling two weeks ahead of me. We got to swim in two lagoons that are located inside volcano craters. The first lagoon which is closer to Granada was the larger and nicer of the two. The water was cool and crystal clear. It was a good swim. The second lagoon is located in Madera Volcano on Isla de Ometepe. This lagoon was small ... read more

Chugging along northward. Entered and arrived in Costa Rica with no problems. San Jose was my first visit. Lame lame city. This place was boring. Not much to do and see here. The city itself isn't nice either. I only stayed here for two days. Two days too long! Cruised it down to the Pacific coast. I visited Manuel Antonio National Park in the town of Manuel Antonio. You know, I've heard stories of a lot of Americans being here in Costa Rica. No freakin' joke! They are EVERYWHERE! Anyway, I did get to meet some cool folks though, an Irishman, Canadians, and yes, Americans. Manuel Antonio has beautiful beaches. When visiting the park, I got to see monkeys, sloths, colorful crabs, and other cool looking animals. Oh yeah and a raccoon, who stole a banana ... read more

Jump back, whats that sound? Here she comes, full blast and top down. Hot shoe, burnin down the avenue. Model citizen zero discipline. Don't you know she's coming home with me? You'll lose her in the turn. Ill get her! Panama! Panama! Panama! Panama...ah..oh..oh..ah...ah! Yes, my friends, I made it to Panama safely. I thought I was mistakenly flewn to the States. The city is very modern. I didn't know what to expect, so it's resemblance to the U.S. really opened my eyes. U.S. troops were stationed here for a long time, so they had a lot of influence on Panama's growth. Plus, the Panama Canal of course! The U.S. managed the canal for more than 80 years until they transfered ownership back to Panama in 1999. Panama now maintains and runs the canal with a ... read more

What a trip! Colombia really surprised me. I had an unforgettable experience traveling through this country. I will always cherish it. While in Ecuador, I met Ronia. An attractive English girl with an amazing mind, and an amazing talent for drawing. When we first met, we hit it off well. We realized we were traveling north around the same time and hitting the same areas, so we decided to travel together to a few places in Colombia. We moved around quite a bit, so I'm gonna give a brief summary of the places we visited and the adventures we had. Popayan: This was the first town we visited when entering Colombia. It was a nice colonial town, but didn't really have much to offer in regards to activities. We visited their natural history musem which had ... read more

Some people don't really think much about Ecuador. Why? I guess cause they don't have much influence in the world or are known for anything great and famous. Regardless, it was a cool place to visit. I first arrived in Cuenca. A nice colonial town. Not much to do here, just a nice place to stop for a visit. After Cuenca I headed to Baños. A small town that offers plenty of outdoor activities. I decided to mountain bike to close by waterfalls. The biking wasn't tough at all and the waterfalls were nice to look at. The last one was impressive. They build a viewing platform where you can actually walk behind the waterfall. It was really cool! A scary thing happened to my on the way back into town. In order to reach the ... read more

After Chile I decided to travel to Bolivia via a 3-day trek in a 4WD vehicle. My group consisted of 13 people riding in two vehicles. One of the best groups I've done an activity with. Different nationalities coming together and having a great time. Everyone was cool. We drove from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile to Uyuni, Bolivia. Got to see amazing desert, colored lakes, beautiful landscape, geysers, and salt flats. We climbed to an altitude of 15,000 feet above sea level. Me, and some others got terrible headaches due to the altitude. They subsided after day 2. Once I arrived to Uyuni, got a bus to Potosi. Sebastian (cool German dude who I met on the trek) and others from my group decided to also head to Potosi. The town was nice and interesting. ... read more
