It has been 4 years since our last family roadtrip. In 2005 we traveled to Mexico in a 15 passenger van. We nearly killed each other. 7 kids, three drunks, and driving in Mexico. Not a great mix at the time, but regardless, it was a good trip. This time around was entirely different and way better. We decided to visit our younger brother, Jaime, and his family in Silver City, New Mexico. For most of us, it has been more than 2 years since we've last seen our brother and his family. So, we felt it was time we all jump in the vehicles and drive to New Mexico. We were not able to rent a 15 passenger van this time, none were available. We rented a smaller van and ended up driving in two vehicles. Maybe that's why we didn't nearly kill each other on this trip. Actually, this roadtrip was really good for everyone. We all got along and most of us had fun. We had a chance to visit El Paso for a few days and also visited Carlsbad Caverns in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They are underground caves that were created by an underground ocean many many years ago. The caverns were impressive and quite cold as well. We all enjoyed learning about its history and simply seeing how nature is able to create such a wonder.

After the week long trip, my family decided to head back home. I, on the other hand, headed west to the Grand Canyon. Stay tuned for my next entry. My travels are not quite over yet!

much love,
alex
