"I'd rather stay here and work rather than going to the beach'" said no one ever. Well the limes are safe, no one was bugging us last night in the pool and I didn't have to get up and fire them at anyone. My gosh, we slept like babies or big babies! Mom even slept in till 8:30 & I went in to check on her & give her toe a wiggle! The beds and duvets are so comfortable here and they aren't chintzy with giving you the good stuff. Having comfortable beds can make or break a vacation. So it was a glorious morning here sitting out on the balcony. We made breakfast, lounged, read up on the rooftop terrace enjoying splendid views as the beach flourished & the fishing and tour boats started to ... read more

Don't ever be ashamed to tell your parents you love them. Ever. We have enjoyed ourselves so much as you can see from the blogs. I am very happy that Mom was able to come along with us; it has made for a fun trip and a chance to spend quality time with her. Life is busy with kids, schedules, work, and with mom out of town, we have to plan for visits. So being able to spend this wonderful time together, to sit down together, break bread, chat and share and just bask in each other's company (well assuming Mom is basking in mine?) has been a gift. A real gift. I have a wonderful dear friend who is dealing with her mother being ill. And I got an email from her to say please ... read more

“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.” HOLA all you beautiful folks on Domingo (Sunday)! We were up and at them around 7:30 this morning, seeing rays of light trickle through the curtains & the soft waves lapping at the shore. We knew it was going to be a sunny-side up day. It's a glorious hot sunny day (it was 26C at 8:30) We made bacon, eggs, waffles, toast with fresh fruit for our girl's breakfast on the balcony. We've got some nice jazz playing (Tony Bennett & BB King doing a duet of "Let the Good Times Roll" and the good times are a' rolling! Al is off to dive today and the sea is calm so no doubt it will be a great day to make ... read more

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream. ~ We REALLY relaxed yesterday, almost as laid back as that frog on my blog :) I know, I know...what the hell else would we be doing but relaxing on vacation. Not like we're working in the coal mines.... Though I have to say I am doing work here too for Playa Beach Getaways. When you work from a laptop you can do it anywhere, including paradise. We almost needed to hire a crane to get our lazy butts out of bed by 8:30 am Friday morning. Al opened our bedroom balcony the night before & hearing the gentle laps of the ocean is like taking a sleeping pill! It is THE most soothing sound that nature offers, next to a soft rain or the rustle of trees. ... read more

"Come to the beach Where the sea is blue. And little white waves Come running at you." Buenos Dias! Top o' the morning to you all! How is life treating you? It's a glorious day here today, it's been cool here the last 2 days but it hasn't stopped us from "gettin' jiggy with it". ;) We enjoyed a morning coffee on the balcony; it's so sunny that it's almost hard to gaze at the ocean for very long with the strong reflection bouncing back. The beach is getting busy with everyone that was hibernating inside outside now streaming out in throngs to soak up some rays. It's marvelous to have our own big private balcony, with dining table & chairs to eat, drink, chat & watch the world go by. Our roof top terrace is ... read more

¿Cómo está? (How are you?) We are just great, any better and it would be illegal! Time is ticking very slowly here as it normally does; yesterday someone asked what time it was, & 5 PM was thrown out, but it was only 3. Hours of fun to go :) Yesterday was a day to chill, and chill we did. After an amazing breakfast on the beach of omelettes, waffles, bacon, amazing hash browns, and fresh fruit, along with mimosas, we were in tip top shape for a walk along the beach. We returned to a spa we had gone to last summer, and for those of you that have your trip booked here next month, it's on Constituyentes between 5th Ave & 1st called Beauty & Health Spa. It's a full spa and we chose ... read more

"Relax unwind. Get into a flip flop state of mind". So where'd I leave off yesterday? I think it was about 5 PM & we were just settling into a nice groove after arriving in Playa-Dice slash paradise. As the day turned toward night, the clouds moved in, and a beautiful humid rain came down, bouncing off the pool like coins dancing in a foundation. Our balcony is covered so I sat out for a bit, watching the rain dance over the surf as it pounded back & forth into the shore like it was having a fight with it. It’s like waves set to music; waves hissing up to the beach, kind of like a quick applause that dies out, then comes back again. As the day turned to night, it was still quite humid, ... read more

The Ocean Is A Poem Without Words. HOLA! Coming to you live from warm sunny Playa del Carmen. We got here by 10:45 am this morning & are taking in the warm sunshine that's spreading all over our happy faces as we lift them up to the sun. What a welcoming sight Playa always is. No matter how many times we’ve been here, it still is a wonderful feeling once your feet hit the ground and your senses are awakened with the smell of sea salt in the air and the sounds of surf and music drifting by. We are like kids in a candy shop enjoying the array of goodies on display. I will admit it, I am an AQUA-HOLIC! The mere sight of the ocean makes my cares hitch a ride out of town. ... read more

"The only thing predicable about life is its unpredictability". Remy, Ratatouille This is my final blog about our trip. So it's a long one as I was trying to capture our last day there along with my overall thoughts of our experience there. Thanks for reading & for all your comments! (PS I apologize if you got this twice; it showed unsent?) Without a doubt some of the best quotes came from Disney movies, and Walt Disney himself. I mean how do you beat this quote? "The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique". If every kid (& adult) believed that, the world would be a better place guaranteed.I sure enjoy a good quote (no kidding Sherlock!) & I use them because they are generally inspiring & can ... read more
