"If everyone is happy with you, then surely you have made many compromises in your life. If you are happy with everyone, surely you have ignored faults of others." ~ Things I love... 4. Breakfasty by the ocean. Our family vacation is going like gang-busters. We are all vacationing at our own pace; some are early birds getting the worms (using potholders to get those worms since it's so hot here!), and others are crashed till 11am. That would be two teens usually. Some like to float in the pool, some like to read, or surf the web, and some like to wander around eating and drinking :) This morning as I type this blog, we are sitting on the beach having breakfast...see the glass of fresh orange juice. Excellent breakie at Playa Maya. There's a ... read more

"The voice of the sea speaks to the soul". Things I love... 3. Freshly squeezed orange juice sold from bike carts on the corners here. Thursday/Jueves Al was up and at 'em early Thursday morning to go for his dive. I got up with him to see him off. I have to say I'm always a little apprehensive when he dives but I know he's with experienced divers who know the area well. Al lives for these dives & I can imagine the complete quietness of the ocean places him in a zen zone unlike any other. Life above water is so hectic and we all need an escape and the ocean is Al's grand escape. He always comes home with a smile and so relaxed. (PS Good time to ask him to borrow money). Advice from a sea turtle Swim with the current. Stay calm under pressure. Be well traveled. Age gracefully. Think long term. Spend time at the beach. Buenos Dias to all you crazy fools reading these blogs! Hope it's warm & sunny where you are. OK for those of you that have been reading my blogs, see if you can fill in the blank. It is so H_T here. I bet you can't do it???!!! (insert big smiley face). Things I love... 2. No socks worn here - just flip flops. When the "low" for the day is going to 28, you know it's going to be a hot day. Yes you got it, it's HOT! Why do I find myself so humorous? Yesterday we all got to do different things. Al took some of the kids ... read more

Wednesday evening: I am tonight, adding on a blog in honor of two of our best friends, Keith & Danielle Kelley. First welcome home Keith from your El Camino walk. This is a spiritual pilgrimage walk that takes weeks and weeks to do in Spain, and is done by foot, around 700 km. Keith researched it, and talked about it for 6 years till he did it with his daughter Tanya, who stayed for a smaller portion of the walk. The rest he did by himself. It took blood, sweat & tears, determination, and well, family support, and in the end, Keith's inner strength & physical endurance to do it, and his perseverance paid off. This walk for many is something that gets into your blood; while it may be a bucket list for some, it ... read more

Things I love. Starting at number 1. 1. Being on vacation and not knowing what day of the week it is. It is Monday right? Yes, doggone it, it's hot here. How hot is it? How come you guys keep asking me how hot it is? :) It is so hot we can wash & dry our clothes at the same time. Wahooooooo. Every morning, no matter the time I wake, the first thing I do is check the curtains to see if I can see the sun peeking through our blinds. Our master is so cozy; remote controls for the a/c, very comfortable cozy bed, and lots of space for clothes/luggage and sliding doors to the pool with views I can enjoy from bed. Life is hard. OK life is not hard (sorry about that). ... read more

"Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but pictures. Kill nothing but time". ~ Our journey continues and we have been treated pretty darn good here. Where did I leave off...? SUNDAY/DOMINGO Sunday was a lovely day started off by watching the men's final at Wimbledon (what a white knuckle game!) Afterwards, Al & I went shopping for a few items, and our allotment of tequila to bring home as you can guess, tequila is much cheaper here than at home. Playa is a big town, and given we are in a private community of McMansions :>, we have about a 5 minute or so walk to the entrance of Playa. These neighborhoods are gorgeous; lined with palm trees and shrubs and flowers. Each villa is bigger and more beautiful than the next. There are a few ... read more

"Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer." Buenos dias family & friends! And happy birthday (July 6th) to my dear friend Zully!!! Sending you birthday greetings & hugs. Another hot sunny day happy to report. We've had heavy rain both nights which is awesome, then we wake up and it's fresh and over with. I think it's safe to say we are all relaxing and enjoying this amazing house. Just when you think it can't get better, the manager Dan came by on Sa. and unlocked this big box on the wall (that we had no idea what was in it) on the terrace and lo and behold it's a large flat screen TV reserved only for the owner. But he felt he could trust us to ... read more

"Seafood + sun + sea + cerveza = paradise"! Thank you family & friends for all the birthday well wishes. I tell you, July 4, 2014 may go down as one of the best birthdays ever, and hey, I've had more than a few. Our first official day here yesterday was spent relaxing & enjoying each other's company. (Rory greatly improved by around noon which was great after having this flu.) After a day of being sloths, swimming, floating, eating, having drinks, well we were just in a zen mode. It could not be better and one would be selfish to expect any more. I had to beat people off my floaty chair :) It was very hot and required mucho pool time. This pool is amazing, with the waterfalls, is large enough for everyone to ... read more
