Top of the mornin' to all of you folks. Tis a grand day here altogether. Just having a coffee on the balcony and thought I'd share what I'm looking at. Hot, humid, sunny, with a breeze and beach is coming alive. It's hard to take pics with the glare of the sun but here goes with my little Sony camera. La vida es bella, deseo usted estaba aquí! (Life is beautiful; wish you were here!) Will write more in a bit about our day yesterday. Salida... read more

Lord give me patience. Because if you give me strength I'm gonna need bail money to go with it... I don't know what's worse, waking knowing it's your birthday & you're another year older, or waking up the day after and know it's not your birthday and there's no breakfast in bed, and no more gifts coming ;) (PS a blog went yesterday called July 4th in Playa; I had a lot of trouble sending it...did you get it? If not check your spam!) Awww well it was a great birthday despite some moments starting with having to haggle with the cabs about how much it cost to take us to the mall across the highway...in the end I told them to stuff it; we walked 2 blocks and caught a cab that was MUCH cheaper ... read more

You don't get smarter when you get older. There's just less stupid stuff you haven't done" ~ Well if one has to turn one year older I'm glad I had the good sense to do it in Playa. Happy Independence day to my friends in the USA and well happy birthday tidings are going on here in Playa. I FINALLY got a good sleep last night and woke in a cozy king sized bed feeling refreshed. I heard a knock at the door and there was Ava and Lara bringing me breakfast in bed of strawberries, bananas, grapes with yogurt. Al had a glass of Champagne & orange juice ready for me and I felt truly spoiled by the attention. Afterwards I was given 3 home-made cards from Ava (does any mother ever get tired of ... read more

We enjoyed our dinner at Fusion Monday night, see pics, and then a BBQ on our rooftop terrace last night. The smell of charcoal filled the air, making other guests jealous :) We had grllled burgers and dogs, wings, salad and guacamole and chips. Simple but oh So tasty. See next blog coming. How's the weather back home?Anyone?! Sal... read more

Some of these clips are short depending on how fast the fish were swimming. It's a good opportunity to see the lagoon, limestone, caves etc. See the blue tang fish! Take a look if you want! Lagoon noun: a body of water cut off from the open sea by coral reefs or sand bars What is it about being in a lagoon that makes your stress completely disappear, and a zen like state washes completely over you? Talk about tropical therapy for the body and soul. Yesterday the family headed to Akumal (half an hour from Playa) for an excursion to Yal Ku lagoon. We've been there before and it was truly an amazing adventure and yesterday proved the same for all. The grounds are meticulously maintained with interesting sculptures throughout. It's an ideal place for both adults & kids to snorkel since the waters are so calm. There are tons of tropical fish to see, and with the water so clear you feel like you're in your own aquarium! ... read more

We travel to not escape life, but for life not to escape us. Happy belated birthday Dad who was born on July 1st! We were all set to call you but people were coming & going and I wanted everyone to be together when we called. Then Ray & Pat arrived, went for dinner and it was too late to call...we'll be dialing you up today! Happy birthday to Conal too (Kels & Casey's older brother who just turned 20!) I hope you all celebrated in style. We had our red & white flashing necklaces & bracelets and Canada Day tattoos on! The restaurant Fusion gave a shout out to the Canadians there! I'm a little behind with this blog; sheesh there's always so much to take in and do. It's such a fun time for ... read more

The happiness of the bee and the dolphin is to exist. For man it is to know that and to wonder at it. Jacques Cousteau. The Riviera Maya is becoming prominent in the world for deep sea fishing. Most people know about its fantastic world class diving, ancient ruins and cenotes, so for some it's a big surprise to hear about the deep sea fishing which is a highly ranked destination by anglers all over the world. The Yucatan waters are where big game fish love to lurk and if you're lucky, you can see runs of Blue and White Marlin, Dorado, Sailfish, and Yellowfin Tuna which tempt anglers from February through September. Marlin and sailfish migrate through Cozumel in the spring & summer months so another attraction to be found in Playa. SO on that ... read more

“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans” – Kahlil Gibran Hola all of you...how the heck are you? Are you enjoying your long weekend? Well Al & Lara got here in record time on Friday. Whipped right through the Cancun airport. We were all so happy to see them both... After they landed in, we had a fabulous lunch at Pelicanos which is a few doors down on the beach...I had actually gone for a facial on the beach for $18 CDN, and right next door was a beach restaurant where I had a drink and read a book till my appointment. The facial was nice, nothing special but a nice exfoliant and moisture face rub. Not bad for $18. God I love a deal :) Back to Pelicanos. ... read more
