Today I plan on doing nothing cuz I started it yesterday and never finished it. ~ Hola all. Oh what a glorious morning, Oh what a glorious day... Hope the weather at home is treating you nice but I just got word from mom that yesterday it was 16C in Ottawa with rain. At 7am yesterday the temperature was 26C with a humidex of 37 but there is a soft lovely breeze. The forecast shows great weather right through till Tues with a small amount of rain. I've never seen a full day of rain here yet so we'll wait and see on that forecast. As I've said before, I predict it will be hot and sunny today, and oh yeah, it will be hot and sunny tomorrow . Next job meteorologist...:) Well our day was ... read more

"Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things"... Well speaking of sweaty folks, aye carumba it's hot here..."how hot is it you ask? Well it's so dang hot here I saw 2 fire hydrants fighting over a dog! OK I'll cut the "how hot is it jokes for now...:) After arriving and getting settled nicely in our condo, we are happier than a woodpecker in a lumber yard. ;) Waking up the first morning on holidays by the ocean in a tropical destination makes you feel like a kid again, experiencing the feeling of the first throes of summer vacation all over...ahhhhh, tranquility. Vacation is anticipated with glee; until you start making the "to do" lists, shopping, packing, getting the house ready to be away, pre paying bills, running errands, making sure the ... read more

What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness... Ain't that the truth...I guess we'd never appreciate our old friend summer if we'd never had a cold winter to compare it to, and our spring wasn't much better...So HOLA summer and HOLA Playa del Carmen! (PS when I'm not writing about a trip I put my public name as Sally For Jusky so my personal info isn't up...so you might not have recognized my blog so if you get this twice it's due to the error!) Anyhow, as I type this blog we we are lounging by the sparkling Caribbean watching the waves roll in. Yep, we are back in Playa del Carmen (Playa) for three glorious weeks to to soak up the sun, surf, seashore and sanctuary of ... read more

"A vacation frequently means that the family goes away for a rest, accompanied by a mother who sees that the others get it". Well I couldn't stay away from you all for too long. TGIF is all I can say. Boy it seems to take longer & longer to acclimatize to being back home after each trip away, and it sure doesn't help when it's -40C with the wind chill. Jaysus Mary & Joseph, it's only around 80 degrees difference from Playa to here, no change at all, yep just taking it in stride BRRRRRRRRRRR ;) Literally and figuratively in every sense it's painful to be back home due to that freezing cold bitter wind chill & frost bite warning. MOANday (er Monday) our first day back was brutal; get up early while it's still dark ... read more

OK finally I am posting my pics of flowers & tree pictures I took with my new Sony camera I got for Christmas. Thank you Santa!!! It sure paid off to sit on his knee (ahem, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!) I'm no "Al" when taking pictures, but I am learning, and I know what I like and did my best to capture it. In my own unique way :) There's no cropping, no photoshopping, no razzle-dazzle tricks at work here, just what was captured in that moment. I love the flowers of the area...... read more

Hi all, getting a minute to post a few short videos. Here's the video of Al's flambeed Filet Mignon steak flambeed in a Brandy/Cabernet Merlot sauce, cooked at our table at AJUA Maya restaurant. It takes a few seconds to load then click play To watch password is: Ajua https://vimeo.com/57728716 Then there's two videos of both Greg & Lara jumping off a clip in the lagoon of Xel-Ha Park. From the water it may not look high, but it is a rather steep jump! “Home is the nicest word there is.” ~ Hello all, how are things? I think I last left off on our anniversary dinner on Friday. Overall we had a really nice weekend, lots of touring around, picking up some gifts & souvenirs, and taking the time to relax by the ocean, eating some great food & enjoying some frothy drinks. Just how we wanted to spend our last few days here. All in all I will say it's been a great trip despite the flu, and somehow the time seemed to stop for a while and one relaxing day turned into another lazy day. Not having to worry about a clock is a wonderful way to escape everyday life. Well it was all tranquil till one has to start packing, sorting laundry and remembering a special ... read more

Hi all, well we finally got back to AJUA Maya where we hosted our wedding here in Playa. AJUA MAYA has moved locations and we weren't sure what to expect, and despite it not being the same feel, we had a great night there, mostly in part to the wonderful staff, who are the same as we had the night of our wedding. What a great night, great food, lots of laughs, and overall probably one of the best restaurants in Playa. The staff are SO much fun, carrying drinks to the table on their heads, playing jokes on us... YES I said drinkS; more than one at a time. Don't try this at home folks! They make your Caesar salad at your table and it was fantastic. Their specialty is "flambee", and they do an ... read more

"Each day is a new canvas to paint upon". ~ Well good morning all! After moving to our new condo early on Friday a.m., Lara & I went for breakfast together & found a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by. This might be one of the most marvelous days we've had here yet. The wind is light and the waves are gently lapping at the shore. The ocean is particularly happy today; it's multi-colored with the sun playfully rippling off the waves. It's a perfect day to scuba dive which Al is doing. He's with Dave who certified Al in his scuba diving and who hails from BC. He is thrilled to be going cenote diving today out near Tulum, one of the most beautiful places in the Riviera Maya. So you ... read more
