Dominica & Antigua - March 2016

a trip by Anne & Lee
From: March 8th 2016
Until: March 15th 2016

In mid March of 2016, Anne and I traveled to the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Dominica to do some warm weather hiking. Dominica is known as the "Nature Island" due to its well preserved natural beauty. It is the only Caribbean island that has never been cleared for raising sugar cane mainly due to the rugged mountain topography that still has active hot spots reminding the visitor of its volcanic origins. Antigua, while comparatively flat, also has interesting trails if you know where to look. We found a few on each island, enough to enable us to "get our miles in" each day. I'll add a page with mostly verbiage about the trip which you can skip if you just want to see the pictures. I'll put the pictures on two following pages, one for Dominica and one for Antigua. As usual, click on any picture to go to a gallery where most of the pictures will have a bit more of a description on the upper right side. Get started by clicking on "Read First Entry" below, or to bypass all the verbiage on the first page, just go directly to the page for Dominica.
