In mid August of 2016, Anne and I traveled to Oregon with the primary purpose of getting a few day hikes in on the Pacific Crest Trail and a secondary purpose of checking out the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. We accomplished both on one of our more enjoyable trips. We flew from Greenville/Spartanburg to Portland, Oregon and rented a car for out travels within Oregon. We had both read the book and seen the movie "Wild" and that was sort of the impetus for this trip. We spent a total of 9 days (8 nights) on this trip which is a bit longer than we like but the best schedule with the best prices from Delta dictated the timing. I'll give a brief description of what we did and include pictures from the trip on the several pages listed below. As usual, clicking on any picture will take you to a gallery where you can page through all the pictures on a given page. In the gallery, most of the pictures will have a caption to the right of the picture that will describe a bit about it.
