Copenhagen was very exciting! Emily and I were exhausted on Thursday morning when we had to wake up at 3am to get to the airport. We probably didn’t have to even get up that early, and its safe to say that both of us were not in the best of moods that morning. We did make it to the airport easily and were comfortable on the way to Copenhagen. After we got to the airport and had some coffee, Emily and I were very hyper as we made our way to the hostel. We waited for our friends there for about an hour until they showed up. It was really exciting to see people from back home in London! Dakin (from Pennsylvania), Oscar (my flat mate, from England), and Meg (one of my other flat mates ... read more

Today was a very relaxed day. Emily and I got up and had our free breakfast at the hostel. It was actually very good for a hostel breakfast, and had more than just bread and tea. Then we went to the last non-commercial art gallery in Berlin called Tacheles. It was more like abandoned buildings filled with graffiti. There were people in some of the rooms painting and with set up art exhibits. It was very interesting and cool. Some of the art was really great, and the whole gallery overall was very edgy. After, Emily and I made the 45-minute journey to a concentration camp on the outskirts of Berlin. Although it was very cool to go see, it was a very sad and somber day. The atrocities that were committed seemed even more real ... read more

Emily and I got up early on this morning and went to the lounge to have our free breakfast! After we ate all we could in the little time we had, we just walked across the street and were at the airport. It was a very nice change of pace compared to taking multiple forms of public transportation and rushing to be on time. The flight was only about an hour, and then we arrived in Germany! We took the train into the city, but it was a leap of faith more than anything. In Belgium we at least knew a little French, or everything was translated into English, but in Germany everything is very foreign. Luckily, we made it into town and easily found our hostel. One of my new friends had recommended it, and ... read more

Yesterday morning Emily and I got on the train from London to Brussels. I felt like I was in Harry Potter because it was at King's Cross station! It was a great train ride, and I would much prefer trains to flying. After we arrived in Brussels, we took a train to Bruges. Our hostel owner picked us up and took us to the bed and breakfast, which was just a little bit out of the city center. It was the cutest place with just three rooms. It was nice to have our own room, unlike most of the other hostels that we stay in. Emily and I decided to walk into town, which was about a 20 min walk. Once we got there we found a resturant that looked out onto a square to eat ... read more

On Wednesday morning at 5am, Emily and I left London for Barcelona. The flight went well and we made it easily into the city. We were starving so we went to McDonalds to eat right off. It was fun to go around the city and see some of the same places that Steve and I saw when we were there this summer. We checked into our hostel, which was very nice. Some of our friends had told us to stay there, and we were glad that we had listened to them. After taking a quick nap, Emily and I went out to explore the city. We walked along the beach and found a cute resturant to eat at. We had tapas and our first sangria! It was delicious. Then we played on the beach for a ... read more

This has been one of the best past weeks of London! My birthday was so amazing. When it turned to midnight all my friends that were in town (unfortunately lots were traveling), sang to me and gave me gifts. It was so sweet of them! The next morning I woke up and went to tea with Dakin at the Langham hotel. This was the first hotel to serve high tea! It was one of the most fancy places that I have ever been. The ice water was also so delicious. Its one of the things that I miss most about the states! We had the ‘Easter’ tea, so all the deserts were Easter themed. There were chick cookies, bunny macaroons and egg chocolates! The sandwiches were great too, and they were all you can eat! Believe ... read more

I have been so busy in the last few weeks! Here are some highlights of the last three weeks so that I can start fresh with this blog for my upcoming adventures! The rest of Ireland was amazing. On Friday the girls and I explored Galway and all that it had to offer. We ate at a delicious resturant, went into the cathedral, walked along the canal, and explored the university. On St. Patrick's day we got up for the parade and got to watch it downtown. It was much smaller than anything that we're used to, but it really gave it a small town and homey feel. We then went to more pubs than we could count! There were people everywhere and drinking everywhere. There were lots of acts on the streets and it was ... read more

March 22nd 2012

I'm sorry that I havent written about this earlier! I have been so busy with school work and time is just flying by! Last Wednesday (March 14) I went to Ireland. I left pretty late at night, so we didnt get to our hotel until about 11:30. It was actually kind of funny, because when we got to the airport and asked when the next bus to Galway is they said that it was at 8:00 the next morning. We slightly paniced, but because we had five people it cost just as much to take a cab. The next morning we got up very early and went into town. We were lucky because the tour company brought a bus to our hotel to pick us up for free! we made friends with the bus driver on ... read more

Well the past few weeks have just been like regular life in London! This is what I wanted- just to live regular life here! People have started to plan their final trips and its begining to make me really sad! I never want to leave here! Tomorrow I head out to Galway, Ireland for St. Patrick's day. Almost everyone is leaving this weekend. When I get back I am going to try and do one activity around the city a day. This weekend wasnt very eventful. I made dinner for some of my friends, which ended up being a ton of fun. Last night my friend made me dinner, too. I'm begining to cook new things! I'm sure the next few weeks will offer more adventures as classes come to a close. I can't believe that ... read more
