"Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living." -Miriam Beard- When I said I Do in May I knew I was not only making a commitment to be Ryan's life partner but, I made the commitment to travel around the world with him in search of new adventures. We all know Ryan is the man he is because he has a lust and excitment for the world, and he now wishes to share this with me. Well here's to a new start and excitment with my very best friend, Ryan. (Lisa)
This marks the beginning of round two of my quest to see the world. After a three year break from travelling it felt great to put on my backpack, get on a plane and arrive in a strange land. I am so happy to be having this adventure with my awesome wife and for her to experience what travelling is all about. We are pumped to be living here in Korea and waiting to see the amazing things that we know Asia has to offer us. I hope you enjoy our stories and pictures. Ryan<>
Alright, after that beautiful, poetic and apparently cheesy intro (thanks sis) lets get down to business. Korea rocks for many reasons and livin it up asian style is simply enjoying life with a twist to it. Some great things about this place is it's alive 24-7. The bars and clubs here stay open till last person leaves and you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage anywhere at anytime....mmm drinks on the subway! Well have fun exploring this site and seeing what stories we have to share. Take care and know that we miss you all!!!!

My saying for her is, it's never dull when Amy's around. We had a great last night together doing what we do best, partying it up. Lisa and I both agree that St. Patrick's Day is always one of the best days of the year. ( I wonder why? ) and this year was definately no exception. My friends from the soccer team told us about this party that is put on by an Irish Pub in Seoul. It is regarded as the best Paddy's party in Seoul. It was an all you could eat and drink event. We paid $60 and you could eat as much and drin... read more

After the bumpy boat ride from Koh Tao we were dropped off at a pier. We were soaked, tired and hungry. We got into a cab aka the back of a truck to head to Hadd Rin (where the full moon party is). In the cab were a bunch of other people and we were told that there were NO accomodations in Hadd Rin. We got out and decided to look a little further away from the party. We were getting a bit worried though that we'd find nothing as other people we ran into said they spent hours the day before searching for a place to stay, everything was booked. We sat on the side of the road with all our luggage and and tried to make a game plan. Then as luck would have ... read more

So we had an early start to the day when it was time to head to Koh Tao. We were up at 6:00am and packed as we took all our stuff with us on the trip. This morning was the only morning we got rain and all our stuff got wet as we waited on the beach for our boat. It could have been worse though, we could have been Amy who did not stay in the night before like the rest of us. Needless to say she didn't enjoy the trip like the rest of us. We were picked up by a speed boat and several of us climbed aboard. We met some really cool people on the trip including a handful of Canadians. We had to travel about 2 hours to get to the ... read more

Ko Samui is quite a nice little island. It has one of the coolest little airports that we've ever seen. It was a few open, thatched roofed buildings with some really nice grounds. From here we made our way to our resort which was a nice little place pretty much on the beach. Our time in Ko Samui ended up being a bit more chilled than Lisa and I would have liked because Lisa had the flu for the first few days and then she sunburned her feet so bad they blistered and were swollen. So, our nights were pretty relaxed. Because we weren't out partying all night we were getting up earlier and hitting the beach which was really good. Mid morning and early afternoon was the best time for the sun because every day ... read more

We arrived in Bangkok late afternoon on December 23rd with Amy and Paul and my luggage didn't show up!! But luckily it was just put on another plane and it arrived about 8 hours later. We grabbed a cab and headed off for Khao San Road (hot spot for travellers), and found Bear (Kyle). How great it was to spot that blonde mohawk and get a big hug from my brother!!! Then we were off to the Buddy Lodge, and we headed up to the roof top pool and kicked off the trip with some tequilla shots and beers. CHEERS!! The next day we all headed to Bangkok's famous weekend market that sprawls across 30 acres. Here you will find monkey's, degrees, clothes, food, and anything you can think of for sale. Oh and you'll get ... read more

Tokyo is an amazing city!! It was a whirlwind 2 days spent here but we had a fantastic time!! We definately liked the vibe that Tokyo gave off. It seems to be a city with such life and energy. For me it had a that big city feel like I got while living in London. We took the bullet train from Osaka on Friday afternoon and arrived three hours later at Tokyo Station which is easily the biggest and busiest train station I have ever seen. It was chaos!! But we managed to make our way to where we needed to be ( with the help of a nice Japanese man ). We met up at a tiny little Irish Pub with Lisa's friend Mary Fish. We spent a few hours there with Mary and some ... read more

Lisa always says that things just don't run smoothly in anything she is involved in. And my response is, " but it always works out in the end". This was true of our brief trip to Osaka. Our purpose for going was to get Lisa's work visa. Here's how we thought the trip should go: airplane to Osaka, train to Namba Station, go to the Korean Embassy, chill until it is ready to be picked up the next day, train to Tokyo. Sounds nice!! But here's what happened. The airplane ride was good. The train ride into Osaka wasn't as easy. There was three different ways to get to Namba station the fast train, the medium train and the slow train. At the ticket office I asked for "fast train" and even did some actions. The ... read more

The first time we went into Seoul was with Jim and Tia (the couple who's job we've taken over) and Ryan and I were in overload of stimulation. Everywhere you look there are signs, lights, people, shops and they all go up up up so you walk around starring up to the sky and inevitably you run into someone. We have some favourite areas in Seoul, one of them being Hongik where there is a university in the area, lots of shopping and lots of clubs and pubs and classy wine bars. Here you will find the streets still busy and alive way into the morning as nothing shuts down until 9:00am. Whatever feel you're looking for from an establishment you can find there!! Another popular place is Itawon which is near the American military base ... read more

Ilsan is a satellite city of Seoul and this is where we live and work. In Ilsan we have 2 favourite places, Lake Park and Lafesta. Lafesta is a hub of activity, full of shopping, eating and drinking. We go there several times a week. Many of the people that we know who live in other areas in and around Seoul love coming to where we live. It is a wealthy area which is constantly expanding. We never really get bored where we live and have made some good Korean and Western friends. ... read more
