Cab
Yes these are the cabs here, back of pick up trucks. We were so safe in Thailand. After the bumpy boat ride from Koh Tao we were dropped off at a pier. We were soaked, tired and hungry. We got into a cab aka the back of a truck to head to Hadd Rin (where the full moon party is). In the cab were a bunch of other people and we were told that there were NO accomodations in Hadd Rin. We got out and decided to look a little further away from the party. We were getting a bit worried though that we'd find nothing as other people we ran into said they spent hours the day before searching for a place to stay, everything was booked. We sat on the side of the road with all our luggage and and tried to make a game plan. Then as luck would have it, some Thai people asked if we were looking for a place to stay. They made a call and some guy who spoke no English picked us up and took us to a place way off the beaten path. There we were at the Secret Hut. Best place on the island! The staff took very good care of us, calling us cabs and chatting and
Our Resort
Yup these places were off the beaten path and it was 104 steep steps to get to them. drinking with us at the outdoor restaurant. Very friendly. The best part about staying here was all the friends we made. We ended up spending the rest of our time with 4 guys from Israel, a couple from Sweden, 2 English lads, and 2 friends from California (hella cool). We had a blast together. The first night there we had some drinks at the Hut then we all crashed from our long day of scuba and snorkle (oh except for Amy because she slept all day on the boat). The next day a staff member drove us into town and we rented scooters, again we were off cruising around and Amy went back to screaming at the top of her lungs. We spent the day on Hadd Rin beach where there were many people soaking up the sun. It was a very young crowd, no families on that beach. That night we went back into town to have supper with all our new friends. The ride in was interesting as we had an obscene amount of people crammed into the back of a truck, but we made it in one piece and we had a great supper. That night we
went to the pre party on the same beach as the full moon parties are on. It was great and more enjoyable than the new years party because there wasn't as many people so we had lots of room to dance and you could actually find a bathroom easily. The next day the Israelis told us about a private beach they found so we spent our last day on a very quiet beach. We napped in hammocks and ate fresh fruit and pad thai all day. It was great! That night we asked the owner of the Secret Hut if we could take over the kitchen, which he let us. We all pitched in money and one of the guys from Israel made us all supper. We sat around together and said a prayer and ate some very delicous pork and salads. After a few more drinks we were of to the new years party. There were many people on the beach and about 6-7 DJ'S pumpin out the tunes. It was a wild party and a lot of fun....BUT there was a dark side to the party. If you walked away from the dancing areas you could find some

The 104 steps were worth the view. very messed up people. Girls passed out on the beach, people throwing up and others asking for help because their friend was so messed up. I won't even tell you some of the other things we saw. It put a damper on the party as I really thought someone may die on that beach or a woman may be sexually assaulted. The smell of everyone relieving themselves on the beach was pretty gross too. As Ryan would say, the scene was ferral. But we still had a good time and made back to Secret Hut safe and sound around 8:00 am. We slept for a bit then the adventure came to an end. We took the ferry back to Koh Samui, flew back to Bangkok and arrived in Korea early in the morning, then it was off to work. Needless to say that was not a fun day at work. Thailand was a fun place to visit and what made it so special is that Kyle came all the way over to spend it with us!
